How would they compare to NCW Rocko?[quote=“Rocko, post: 340874”]
I thought Dubrovnik was a cracking city. You probably wouldn’t do more than a few days there but well worth a visit and the islands are good.
Bilbao and San Sebastian are deadly places WTB. I did it the other way around and stayed in Bilbao but did trip to San Sebastian on bus and train. Train took fucking ages but I think we were on some weird steam-powered thing. Both great cities anyway but San Sebastian has the beach bit to it which is deadly.

thinking of getting away around xmas for a bit here in the arse of the world. Wouldnt mind an international trip. New Zealand potentially after the rugger buggers have left? heard today that the weather in fiji is shit that time of year, was my first choice. Thailand maybe but its a long enough flight.
Bali is fucking brilliant. Live, eat and fuck like a king every day for very little money So long as you can avoid the Aussie wankers who flock there (easy done), you’re grand. Was in Fiji around mid-November for 3 weeks and it was fucking beautiful weather. I was bored stupid though. Not sure there’s much to do except lie on the beach and booze at night. I’m sure there’s activities you can do but I was on a budget at the time and it’s not the cheapest place.
Go to Bali.
Heading to Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda on my own in November - joining up with a tour group over there though.
Anyone here ever get the Yellow Fever vaccine? I got mine a week ago and start of the flu symptoms has only started to hit me now and the worsst of it is the piercing muscle ache down both sides of my legs for the last 18 hours or so. Had to run out for paracetamol there it got so bad.
At least two of these countries are warzones though. Maybe you should try a weekend in New Ross beforehand to toughen you up. [quote=“croppy_boy, post: 340882”]
Nah it’s over 18 days and with a recognised tour company. I did a similar one in India last year and South East Asia the year before.
Can’t be any worse than the three night’s camping experience at Electric Picnic sure.

About €2300 including tour and flts. Visas were around €200 but you need to get them a logn way out. I ended up paying €50 extra to the Kenyan Embassy as I applied within four weeks of leaving.
Nothing to be scared of sure. The troublesome areas in Kenya are out by the coast near the Somalia border. You don’t go with 200 miles of the South Sudan border in Uganda and in Rwanda there is little trouble anymore and if there is it would only be in the south and the tour concentrate on the North East border where the Mountain Gorillas can be tracked.
Yeah that’s fine Croppy but if anything kicks off you’ll be hacked to death with a machete and they’ll put your head on a stick. You’ll probably be grand though.
Closest I came to any strife was a combination of being used as a human shield by a cowardly Brazilian clown in our trekking group when a (completely harmless) silverback walked right by us and almost getting grazed by a machete that our guide was using to knock back some briars through the jungle.
Great trip, would recommend it to anyone - do it with a tour group though, public transport does not exist in East Africa as a viable option for tourists.
Anyone ever been to Vietnam, have a cousin over there who runs a couple of English language schools and am thinking of going for a week/10 days next year. Is it worth the trip?
Better weather and beaches down south, north is stunning scenery wise tho. The gooks are a funny bunch and can seem cold compared to Thai/Cambodians but It’s easy forget big brother is watching. Find out where he’s at and if airasia run a flight to Phnom Penh out of there. If they do it will probably only be 50 bucks return, well worth checking out for a couple of nights while you are over that way.
