Huns v Celtic - 12pm ko

An absolutely magnificent second half performance by Martin O’Neill’s Celtic.

It finishes, 2-2 and honours even. What an enjoyable contest and outcome from a neutral perspective.

Advantage Heart of Midlothian. And possibly even Motherwell as well.

MON giving the hun bastards their fill of it there. You’d have to be proud of everything he’s done for that Club especially since he’s returned again. He never takes a wrong step.

What did he do?

Martin O’Neill is a wonderful man. Hope he can relax a bit now and enjoy the rest of his 74th birthday.

The Jam Tarts sitting pretty now

Your boys bottled it Dan. This will haunt Rohl. Outfoxed in the second half by a pensioner .

I’m a Heart of Midlothian/Motherwell footix mate. I’m delighted with that outcome. Optimum result for my two teams.

Thought Murray , bar his error , had a very good game .the two hun centre backs are outrageously bad on the ball . Souttar sent one into the stands with nobody around him, fernanades too.
Bar one sloppy one Scirachhi was very good moving forward .

Hatate was superb when he came on. Thought that was a very good effort by Celtic. Nygren was also way more involved in general play & did well for Tierney’s goal & several other chances. Back four were solid & Murray responded well in fairness. Great scenes at the end. It’ll be good next week in the cup when Celtic have the entire Broomloan.

That game next week will be savage with 8k or so Celtic fans there. Still think it’s Hearts to lose but the game v Aberdeen midweek is huge!!

Got a trip to Pittodrie to negotiate first mate, before you can turn your attention to the Cup quarter final.

Celtic had 16 of their total 17 shots in the second half. A lot of missed chances before the goal. In fairness to Maeda…his header was going in before Sterling handled it. The huns had 1 shot on target after going 2-0 up on 26 minutes.

Another great day for Hearts.

Celtic are so bad to win the ā€œ second ball ā€œ in midfield . A great servant but McGregor is atrocious in this regard . Celtic need some big physical lad in there .Rangers are still a poor team all told.

Agreed in the main but they actually won most of those second balls in the second half, even lads like Nygren & McGregor who wouldn’t possess much/any pace. The huns lost their nerve a bit & became very edgy.

Just finished watching that ā€œas liveā€ after my youth charges successfully negotiated a penalty shootout earlier.

Was very tempted to turn it off after they got the second goal. The first half was really abject. We couldn’t play any sort of progressive football. And we were second to everything. The amount of times they just casually took a throw in to a player in space near our end line was ridiculous.

Their man for man matching worked well - it became a 4 almost in midfield for them with the wingers coming inside to work on stopping us playing out and our wingers were completely out of the game. Adamu was miles off the pace and looked a waste of space up there. Don’t mean to be too harsh but he was levels below what Cvancara has offered and didn;t really compete for anything.

The changes worked very well. Hatate was excellent - though didn’t take advantage of a couple of good chances and then nearly missed the one at the end but got there in the end. He played a lovely ball for the first goal though and added composure and possession in midfield when we badly needed it.

Thought Scales was immense at the back - one or two times he was a little slow getting to the ball and makes it tough on himself when he jobs across. But he won a huge amount in the air. Even Murray did well actually apart from the one enormous error. But those enormous errors need to be far less frequent. Other than being a little stand off ish I thought we defended ok on the whole especially given the first half when we had no ball and couldn’t get up the pitch.

Touetki was another positive change when he came on. Was surprised Maeda stayed on after his first half which was possibly the worst I’ve ever seen him. Nothing at all came off and he was getting very frustrated with himself. Pulled it together to at least be a threat in the second half.

They will be fairly seething at that outcome. Which makes me happy.

Rommens from rangers warrants a mention , I’ve never seen him before but in 90 minutes he has convinced me he has the head that makes him to the Hun manor born ala Albertz or Ricksen. This lad will only come more and more on our radar .
