I tend to like Engels so I thought he was ok. Lots of praise for Hatate online and he was probably the pick of the midfield. I felt Ralston struggled all day and that hurt Engels in making as many contributions. But I think our midfield aren’t fluid enough against them. It’s too easy to just sit on the three of them and there isn’t much switching or dynamism.
I wouldn’t advise against watching the match. If we’d lost the lead it would be painful but the order of the goals makes it more enjoyable.
My gambling days dried up after a certain horse trainer got up to mischief and following this, texts from a former poster and his friend in the media came to an end.
Some say the juicing had to stop and with it the winners but what do I know.
I did have a little bet on Idah and Maeda to score and Celtic to win. What could have been at the end, mo chroí i mo bhéal….
Busy weekend, just managed to kick off the working week by watching the game in full.
Thought Celtic played well enough overall but lacked a killer instinct. Maybe it’s the injured attackers like Jota & Kuhn & missing a bit of edge with the title sealed too.
Definitely played through the hun press much better than the last few games against them - they seemed to set up kinda differently out of possession - & Celtic got breaking into their half after a few combinations on several occasions in each half. But didn’t ultimately create enough from that & didn’t test the keeper too much. Blocked crosses/cut backs, last pass being cut out, wrong choice of pass, overrunning the ball etc. But had good control of the game & positive to come from behind & end the little run of derby defeats.
Sinisalo looked very assured & thought Hatate was very good. At least Idah atoned (great football word much like “adjudged”) for his miss just before their goal with his equaliser. Yang looked like he was capable of doing something positive but his touch/timing was slightly off after missing a few weeks. Thought Kenny had a nice cameo too with 2 or 3 nice lay offs/link ups & threatened in behind. Pity Maeda didn’t square that last chance to him. Criticism of Engels was harsh to me, think he was very prominent in the first 20-30 minutes but did fade quite a bit. As has been said, would want him to get a solid pre-season & really stamp his authority on consistently next season. Think he’ll be Rodgers’ pet project & with his technical ability & athleticism he should be scoring 10+ goals from open play next season.
