Hurling League 2018

Tipp are on another level to us right now with different goals in mindā€¦ the reality is that we are aiming to be consistently competitive and developing a very young squad. Tipp are genuine AI contenders and should be beating us even without 4/5 of their championship starters but they wont see it as a major tragedy if they are beaten by Limerick ā€” they will still be there or there abouts come August. Itā€™s great for Limerick to be playing these games, the more the merrier, but we are still a good bit off being near an AI and winning a league wont change that.

Itā€™s a shame they are playing again in 6 weeks timeā€¦ no matter what Tipp we see Sunday, they will be a different animal for first round of Championship and will be going all out to beat a Limerick team they will see as a handy chance of getting early points on the board ā€” think Tipp play 4 weeks in a row.

What are the betting odds

Up your bollox.

Someone is taking Saturday very very seriously talking shit about a young team

Who?

Fully agree mate, from our perspective though tangible progress has been made this spring which we havent seen in nearly 10 years.

We are below the likes of Tipp/Galway but we will be competitive based off what Iā€™ve seen so far this year. The wides count is a worry thoughā€¦nothing that cant be addressed.

Iā€™m looking forward to Saturday night. I think there will be a bit of bite to it. I agree with @anon61956325 that Tipp are still that bit ahead of us. Saturday will give us an indication of how much. I expect Tipp to win by about four. The potential light in the tunnel for Limerick is how much they make them work for it

Man Clare are shite and ye needed a free taking competition to beat us

We did Joe. But if we had scored half our wide we would have been home and dry

And dido

The more high pressured albiet league games this young group get the better.

Hickey at 3 vs Forde will be interesting as well.

Absolutely. I would love to see them win Saturday night, not just to be in a league final but you could nearly be guaranteed that a match against Wexford or Kilkenny would have full intensity to it

Defeatest nonsense. Wear it into them. Tipp donā€™t like it up em.

I was never a fan of any of her music.

I would have said that Forde is exactly the type of forward Hickey likes marking. Heā€™ll battle away all day against someone like that, itā€™s pure pace merchants he really struggles with.

Forde seems to be right on form this year so far though. His ability has been well flagged since 13 but now he seems to be finally reflecting it for Tipp at full forward in Callinans absense.

Will be a good examination of the Hickey experiment as a fullback imo Saturday evening.

Bubbles has little or no pace and remember what he did to Hickey inside in the Gaelic Grounds.

But I agree none the less, itā€™ll be fascinating to watch as a great man once said and hereā€™s hoping Seamie holds his own

Hickey is not a full back. Kiely might feel he has to play him there, but heā€™s not related to a full back. He could do a reasonable job (or better on a day when it rolls for him) at wing back where there is cover behind him, but it wonā€™t go well for him at 3 in the Championship if he is played there.

Richie, Casey or even English would do a better job at 3 than Hickey. Nice chap, great attitude, committedā€¦ but not a full back.

Any team news mike?

Havenā€™t heard a thing Joe. Iā€™ve been that busy at work, I didnā€™t even hear a radio today.
