Hurling League 2018

Limerick are not a weaker county

Jackie Tyrrell used the phrase “fascinating to watch” in his Irish Times column on Saturday.

Led to believe he refused professional full time work regularly from a few different stations.

Met him once on flight home after International rules. Student of the game (s)

“he has solid instinct so”

Article on in the examiner regarding the lack of lights. May effect the Ed Sheeran concerts if it’s not sorted!

Better than Anthony Daly
He is the Trevor Francis of gaa punditry.

Commentator: “and maher wins the ball in midfield, beats his man, and puts it over the bar”

Daly: “Ya, maher there just won the ball in midfield, bet his man, and put it straight over the bar”

Tommy Walsh is mighty though. Surprisingly balanced

I hope Walsh and Mullane end up commentating together at some stage. The radio will dance off the shelf.

I think Daly’s alright. He’s very amiable and personable and I don’t think it’s a coincidence they put him on co-commentary on eir sports with Mike Finnerty. Finnerty’s not from a hurling stronghold and often doesn’t get the nuances of the game. Like he was eulogising the first half in Cork the other night as some kind of spectacular even though there was no tackling or marking. That’s where Daly comes in with a “some lovely scores alright Mike, but it’s just lacking that cut, edge and intensity I’d associate with a really top class game.” Corrected but in a nice way. I’d say Anthony Daly is a grand chap to go for a pint with.

Spot on, what us mullions would call a Sound Skin

The start of the game yesterday in Walsh Park was delayed to let the crowd in. There was 7400 at the match. We are going to have some crack when they host championship matches there this summer, though my sources tell me the games will be moved on health and safety grounds (the wall on Keanes Road is in a state of collapse) and we will play Cork in Thurles and Tipp in Nowlan Park.

yeah I cant see how Waterford will be let host games after a shambles hosting a league game. At least the supporters themselves can see how bad it is so it’ll be easier to take when the championship games are moved.

why they didnt sell up Walsh Park when the boom was in and they would have easily got buyers for that land there and shack up then with WIT in Carriganore I’ll never know. It would be a right spot there for a top quality grounds and would make a heap of sense.

Apologies to Antony Daly, I thought it was your own thoughts mate, obviously you being from a hurling stronghold and me not has proven Bandos point further

I dont think Dalo posts here so you’ll have to apologize via social media. - Your Cork blinkers blinded you, mate. It happens, dont beat yourself up about it.

They were league games mate, winter hurling in shitty conditions, I pay no attention really, I made a valid point about how Tipp seemed a bit rusty hurlingwise and that I didn’t enjoy the spectacle as much,

You said it was shite in comparison to the Cork game, mate — The Cork game was like a training session — It was outstanding quality in Ennis but Clare will have taken a lot from the physical exchanges.

Is that a bad thing?

He may be, but he offers absolutely no insight. None. I cannot see the point of paying an “expert” sidekick, if all they do is restate the obvious.

Soundness is neither here nor there.

Was that due to turnstile management, traffic, people all cutting it too fine, or all the above?
