Hurling League 2018

Thatā€™s a cracker.

Sorry my oul epal.

Dalo was great at speeches ā€œThereā€™s been a missing person in Clareā€¦ā€ ā€œWe love our traditional musicā€¦ā€ ā€œNo longer the whipping boysā€¦ā€
Inspirational stuff

He barely knew any of the players names. He was a hurling development officer from 13s to 18s. Jerry Wallace had put in a terrific system in place and under Daly the hole thing went backwards. He barely saw the 14s to 17s. Weā€™ve several very weak minor sides for the next 3-4 years due to Daly being utterly shite at his job. He came for the money.

Of course he came for the money. Its the only reason any of us drag our sorry asses to work every morning. I would take issue with him ā€œcommentatingā€ for another game within an hour of his minor team playing a championship game. That wouldnā€™t float at club level. I think outside managers at senior are by and large unnecessary, but at underage, it really needs deep local knowledge.

Ye are worse fools to have given it to him

And thatā€™s not an insult, that, is just a fact of life.

Is Anthony Daly a good coach/manager and a sound chap. Yes.
Was he a good appointment to head up youth development? Most definitely not.
That role requires a 100% commitment and an absolute passion for it, not someone who has ten other things going on at the same time and treats it as an after thought.

Surely those who appointed him should be the ones accountable as opposed to Daly. Iā€™m sure it was known when appointing him that he would continue with his media roles and other interests but they decided they wanted a big name with little or no track record for training underage teams or development squads rather than someone more suited or qualified to the role.

Absolutely, the big house wanted a big name

Who is doing the job now?

A big name who came with a big price.

For a role like that you need someone whoā€™d analyse every aspect of the underage structure, meet all the stakeholders (schools, clubs), formulate strategic plans, targets, recommendations, enthusiasm for the role, fully committed to it.

Did he do any of that? Absolutely not.

Chatting with Matt Cooper on Friday nights before taking training ahead of the minors championship matches that weekend.

Thank fuck heā€™s Kilmacudā€™s problem now.

Jerry Wallis is back.

Correct.

Funny how you hold the county board accountable for daly but blame tj Ryan for the poor showing of the senior team under his stewardship.

The one thing you are guaranteed in Limerick is an effort to blame their failings on others
