Last 15 minutes will paper over a fairly poor performance. Seem to be very lightweight and our distribution is shocking. Clare drove 20+ wides and should have been out of sight. Positives for KK were Richie Leahy who is a class act and young Keoghan when he came on made a difference. Wally tried extremely hard aswell and canāt be faulted.
Iād imagine Clare will be pretty happy apart from the last ten minutes. They were much sharper than KK and their touch was far better.
On at 5:30
I fought someone said that it was the deferred game
Looking like Kk v Wd relegation playoff
Tip are save cork dodgey
Is it a play-off between 5th and 6th or does 6th go down?
It is bud Clare and Wexford wonāt have to worry about that
A lot of positives today. A well deserved victory despite hitting way too many wides though we gave up a couple of goal chances.
The backs really closed up shop in the second half. Paudie Foley has slotted back in seamlessly and had a strong second half after Lehane caused OāHanlon some problems in the first half.
Liam Ryan was excellent and Simon Donohoe had an impressive game too. I hope itās not a recurrence of the ankle ligament injury for Damien Reck. Weāre not that well stocked with corner backs.
Aidan Nolan had a stormer in midfield with his three points and constant work rate, tackles, dispossessions etc. Definitely our MOTM and won an ocean of ball. Kevin Foley also struck 2 or 3 lovely points - the equaliser in the second half after the gang tackling under the stand was a real crowd pleaser.
Chin was brilliant in the first half but less influential after half time. Weāre still missing way too many frees - in fairness 6 of the 7 misses were from midfield out (2 x Chin in first half and 4 x Fanning after half time) but the teams who win titles at the business end of the season knock over 3 or 4 of that long range type.
Guiney actually pointed the most difficult one of the lot to push us out to a 0-19 to 1-14 lead before the two clinching points from Kehoe and OāKeeffe. Think we knocked over the last 5 points of the match after Cork had a little purple patch and went 1 in front with around 10 minutes left.
We also struck some sloppy wides from open play after half time (11 in the second half and 16 in total apparently?) but the likes of Morris, Chin, Foley and Nolan hit some great points too.
Thereās a great buzz around the team. Maybe Rory OāConnor could sort out the free taking issues but is it too much pressure to place on a 19/20 year old?
Looked like a fantastic atmosphere for February and despite it bringing a chuckle to some the little pitch invasion said a lot about this team in Wexfordās affections, itās a cliche of course but I hope theyāre not going to peak too early again,
Nolan was absolutely brilliant, unbelievable performance
Is Guiney not worth a starting spot? Heās our best free taker by far and consistently more consistent than others
Did you enjoy the pitch invasion today bud? Great to get one so early in the year.
FAO of the forum: I wasnāt on the pitch today but I sometimes walk from a covered stand seat onto the pitch and out onto the Clonard Road from the exit in the uncovered side corner. Itās for speed and ease of departure, guys. Of course there are plenty of children and the likes of @Appendage running on for autographs and selfies but please donāt create some February pitch invasion en masse narrative for ridicule. Davy has to put up with enough fake news as it is. As I say, a lot of people simply cut across the pitch instead of going out the back of the stand and around the perimeter to exit.
Sweep sweep
The lads in Wexford getting very excited.
Heck of a goal by Shane OāDonnell
Odd performance from James Mcgrath. Gave some ludicrously soft frees in the first half and then ignored blatant fouls.
Podge Collins looks done as an intercounty hurler
Heās a terrible ref. Seems like heās very easily conned by players going to ground. But itās hard to see what heās looking for in deciding if a tackle is legal or not.
A hard game to anything from we look strong morey brill Kelly had a great day sod great to see him back scoring goals and working hard Calvin good, Brown solid. Duggen man of the match mcnanry brill riedy very good
Keoghan has made a big difference to Kilkenny. Industrious bit of stuff
