Hurling League Predictions Thread

why you think its a banker ?..I thought cork would be itching to erase memories of their last trip to croke park?.. dubs usaually aren’t half as good in croker as they are in parnell…
Cork should be more steely this year - Saturday will be a test of that

Looking forward to the double header anyway - a balmy March evening
Having Walsh, Cahalane etc involved will help. But that’s about it. Same old failings. Being poorly trained as well.

no pal…i went to the first spring series game between tyrone and Dublin many moons ago and haven’t been back since… like I said I would have though cork would be itching to get back to Croker after Tipp debacle and putting in a serious performance…would have expected them to have too much for dubs but Kev probably has inside info on cork’s training…

Clare are unbelievably shit and Cork were papering cracks.
The manager of Dublin is who should be in the manager, or at worst the manager in Waiting in Cork. Cunningham is already showing that the ideas and outlook on modern hurling he had suppressed in Cork are close at worst to on the ball.

Cunningham will fall out with that Dublin team - he wanted to bring his young kids on the team coach for some games with Cork and was told to do one

he will have Dublin well drilled and hurling well for this time of the year but they will fade over summer in my view

regime is tougher this year - no more mollycoddling of players from what I have been told and they have competition for places now which helps

Three reasons I 'm going for Cork over Dublin

 1. Croke Park will suit Corks forwards
 2. They appear to have picked their A team
 3. I’m so fcuking far behind on the league table I need a few left of field results to come in.

well he definitely has them moving the ball into the forwards a lot faster than daly…but they are also far more loose around the middle too…

The training is very non- hurling specific. The whole county knows what’s going on and to be honest is up in arms. Cork GAA has been mugged off, good and proper.

You are getting the part line on Cunningham. And if that’s all they have, completely unrelated to coaching, then it’s very revealing.

It all can’t be him when the next guy jumps ship as well.

And another thing, you can’t just talk tougher. You have to act. And still picking players out of position and out of form.
It’s very hard for some of these lads to change their minds on things.
No strength training being done by many, no sports psychologist etc etc.

Cork
Kk
Clare
Waterford
Limerick’s
Laois

Ah joe!

We all need to hope

Dublin
Kilkenny
Tipperary
Waterford
Antrim
Limerick

You should just keep an eye on what the limerick posters pick and copy them.

regime is tougher - won’t go into some of it but players who were coasting have been called up on it and there are new rules in place

they are strength training, they always have been, look at players like Joyce for development and Nash has added about five yards to his puck outs
they have had no soft tissue injuries bar Horgan’s hamstring this year which points to a good regime

there is a sports psychologist involved now

proof will be later in the year though - I thought they had the beginnings of a game plan in the Clare game so Saturday will be interesting to see if that develops

You can argue they have over achieved based on under age record in recent years. As for Cunningham we will see what happens with Dublin - he will emphasise hurling drills so they should benefit from that but I am not sure he will relate well to the players and I think Dublin will be out before August
(Kingston left for work reasons - he is out of the country a lot)

That’s a tight party line you are holding.
Strength training was a joke, I have seen the generic program they got (yes generic). They had stopped strength training recently and have stopped in the past.
They also have several injuries.

Are mates with Matthews or something?

We train near them at least once a week. The running thy were doing a few weeks ago was silly.

I know a couple of them fairly well from some work stuff and sideline stuff I do. Have met Matthews and know him too.

All those other injuries are collision injuries as far as I know and one freak injury involving a finger.

My own view is that they need to develop a pattern of play and a bit of bloody mindedness to be successful. It won’t come down to skills or fitness. As has been said before about them - if they work hard they are a very good team and if they don’t work hard they are a very average team.

Nash is a good choice as captain as he is their natural leader when they are in a group.
