Hurling Power Rankings

The Corks and the Tippos have this fella very badly rattled :rofl:

All those words :flushed:

Tis easy to see the lads who didn’t give a fuck about Limerick hurling when they were cannon fodder for decades.

I think he’s probably got it right with his 1-2 there. A Tipp v Cork AI semi would be the defacto All Ireland final really.

A very fair assessments

If Kilkenny play a first half like yesterday vs Limerick they’ll be lucky to be 10 points behind.

All very true. The Tippos have reached Duignan levels of deference and cap doffing to Cork this year.

Provincial finals in the Liam McCarthy completed, Joe McDonagh cup completed. We now rank all the team who are left in the Liam McCarthy competition.

  1. Limerick. Were not beaten on Saturday evening and showed enough that even in an intense Munster final that they are the team to beat. I’ve had them up at the top or there abouts all year, nothing I’ve seen at least shows me that they are still the best team in the country on their day.
  2. Cork. Very close to going into the top spot, but they did ship a 16 point beating (by Limerick) and didn’t win the game outright but on peno’s. Showed great heart and ability to stick into and with Limerick over the 90 odd minutes. Can look forward to being in an AI final as I don’t see anyone on their side of the draw that could beat them.
  3. Kilkenny. Won for the 6th time in a row for only the third time in Leinster. It’s not their/our fault that we are in Leinster. As it stands in this decade Munster is the dominant province but that will swing back at some stage. Won pretty convincingly in the end, happy for all involved. I have them third as they could beat Cork or Limerick but they’d have to be hurling out of the skins, with Eoin Cody back, and with everything going right for them on the day.
  4. Tipperary. Looking at the matches ahead, I think this Tipp team can beat Galway, hence their position in this POWER RANKINGS. They got out of Munster, they have a young team with great skills and passion. They could beat KK on their day. Will be interesting to see how it goes for them.
  5. Galway. It must be very frustrating to be a Galway supporter. Have the ability, just need for it to click. And when it does and they play with the shackles off, they are a match for anyone. Their game v Tipp will be a humdinger, I hope it’s on in SVPuíC.
  6. Dublin. Kildare the next day in Newbridge, and then a game v Limerick. Only one winner for me in this game but the Dubs will put it up to the Treatymen.
  7. Kildare. Great win yesterday, delighted for them. Have a nephew who played a Dublin club in the morning, brought to the game, saw Kildare win, and then KK - what a day for him!
  8. Laois. Fodder for Tipp next weekend.

Sin é lads. A great weekend of hurling behind us, looking forward to the craic over the coming 6 weeks or so.

No bother buddy

Fógra: there was no change to the top 6 after last Saturday’s duo of excellent, competitive and really consequential games except for the fact that Kildare and Laois are now ELIMINATED. I will update the rankings on Sunday when, to paraphrase the spice girls, 6 become 4
