Can’t see there ever being a bigger, more box office clash on here than me and Flano last year in the IOTY…
Epic couple of weeks. The numbers of PM’s exchanged broke all records. The moderators even got so paranoid they started banning legitimate posters such as Pukes mate Darby. He was so pissed off with the whole charade he never came back.
I remember a few mulliance members dropped their heads and thought we were beaten but I proclaimed in ala Gerlock in 1995 “We are going to do it”
Locke even sent me on his mobile number to text him the result as he was away from his computer that afternoon, that’s how much it ment to people…
One of my greatest regrets as admin on here.
I’ve no problem admitting that things got on top of us at that time and we were chasing shadows around the forum trying to keep on top of things. That was the week we realised we needed to add Dunph to the admin team.

In fairness rocko your biggest failing in it was you were too vigilant…you were too eager to ban him without knowing the facts and couldn’t go back as it would have opened the floodgates…
I don’t hold any grudge over it and Darby got his vote cast before he was banned

Pukester, one thing that you forgot to factor into the entry list so far is that Flano will be an automatic entrant due his current IOTY status. I was just doing some background reading and see that the wildcard poll was a 24 hour blitz in late January last year and the IOTY vote itself took place on the Wednesday - Friday (28th - 30th). We then ran a delayed IOTM for January '09 the following week. I would suggest this year that the Wildcard Nominations be held from Friday 22nd - Monday 25th, the 24-hour Wild Card blitz vote be immediately held thereafter, and then the final IOTY vote itself be run over 48 hours from Tuesday 26th - Thursday 28th. The Thursday finish should ensure plenty of Friday banter rather than reaction being limited by people doing their own thing for the weekend. The sheer magnitude of this event and the prestige attached to the award requires that serious planning take place. Has anyone any view on that proposed timetable or anything associated with IOTY?

You are forgetting a vital point in all of this - December’s IOTM.
No, not forgetting it. That will take place around the end of this month as usual (give or take an extension of a day or two 'cos of the time that’s in it) and that person will be entering the IOTY. Just setting out the best timetable, as I see it, in January for the IOTY race itself.
A lot of big hitters in terms of cumulative votes in IOTM not in the running for this yet - Puke and Bandage spring to mind.
I wonder if the wildcard will do a Goran Ivanisevic or a Flano again (probably more apt) and win the thing outright.
