Injuries
Back with the surgeon today following the MRI arthogram earlier this week. He recommends the keyhole surgery so Iā€™m weighing up my options. Heā€™d repair/remove the torn hip cartilage and shave some of the bone so the ball and socket would knit together as intended in the future.

Itā€™d be a general anaesthetic 1.5 hour operation, overnight stay, minimum 4 weeks on crutches, same time off work and then 3-4 months physio/rehab. Thinking of pencilling in surgery for mid-September so Iā€™m not laid up for Wexfordā€™s march to All Ireland senior hurling glory.
While the Wexford dream has died, Iā€™m booked in for hip surgery in September.

I made the call despite being somewhat unnerved by lots of testimonials on different forums.

Iā€™m guessing the silent majority were happy with surgery and itā€™s those who didnā€™t find any improvement post-operation that take to railing against it online.

Iā€™m now fully clear that Iā€™ll be fucked for weeks after it and Iā€™ll have to work hard to recover properly.

Iā€™m also continuing to put in the work before surgery in order to have a better chance of a smoother recovery. Iā€™ll be quitting alcohol from 8th August until after my operation too.

My wonderful mother is adamant that I must recuperate in Wexford initially. Sheā€™ll help me put on my socks and clean my balls.

All the best DHW, Im sure youā€™ll come back as well as Liam Ć³g did, if not betterā€¦

Underage star who once scored all his teams points in a county final back to full fitness after a couple of years of struggling with injury? This will be very hard for Liam Dunne to ignore.

*points from play

No, all points.

What would be the best, easy to get pain killer to get you through a game?

Playing or watching, pal?

Grab one of your nuts in one hand mate. Squeeze like fuckā€¦

That will distract you from the injury for a good 10 minutes. Resqueeze when needed.

talk to the man with the Mr. Nice avatar. You wonā€™t be great on the auld motivation front though

Some thoroughly unhelpful advice here thus far

What type of pain, mate?

A muscle strain/sprain

Where, pal?

I donā€™t want to say too muchā€¦

Ice the fuck out of it every night between now and then- Take nurefon to bring down inflamation also- Your best bet is to warm up well- destroy it with deep heat. If it can be strapped do soā€¦ If itā€™s your groin, it would be best to rest it- damage here could set you back months.

Iā€™m absolutely broke up this morning.

Did you get a suitable drug?

Nuerofen Plus. But canā€™t walk this morning. My groin is fucked. Also took and dished out a sick amount of digs. Most violent game ive played in years.
