Ireland politics (Part 1)

Paul Kehoe.

Where would you even start?
Are these Blueshirts for real?
Has this clown never heard this figure of speech?

An apparent reference to gardaí as “dogs” made by a Socialist TD during Leaders Questions in the Dáil this afternoon has been described as “scurrilous”.

Government Chief Whip Paul Kehoe asked Ruth Coppinger to withdraw the remark, which she said did not refer to gardaí but was a “figure of speech”.

Ms Coppinger had asked TĂĄnaiste Joan Burton about recent arrests in connection with an incident at a water charges protest in Tallaght last November, in which Ms Burton was trapped in her car for over two hours.

Deputy Coppinger asked the Tánaiste why she felt so special and spoke of two previous taoisigh who had their cars blocked, but neither called “out the dogs”.

Ms Burton said gardaĂ did not deserve to be spoken of in those terms.

Ms Coppinger said the expression she used was “call off the dogs of war” on the people of Jobstown, to which Mr Kehoe said members of his family were gardaí and was she referring to his family as dogs?

Socialist TD Joe Higgins defended his colleague saying that Deputy Coppinger did not refer to gardaí as “dogs” and said “dogs of war” was a known figure of speech.

“Read your Shakespeare and there you will find it”, he said.

Sinn FĂŠin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald said there is growing concern that the arrests are politically motivated.

She told the DĂĄil that 17 people had been arrested and claimed that someone wanted to criminalise the Jobstown community and the water protests.

Ms Burton it was a matter for gardaĂ to investigate crime and it is exclusively a matter for gardaĂ to decide who is arrested and it is a matter for the DPP to decide if someone is charged.

She said people who have complaints about the way they are treated by gardaĂ can complain to the Garda SĂochĂĄna Ombudsman Commission.
clearly the thick cunts have never read animal farm, it’s orwellian really

They’re some pack of dickheads. That’s the second or third time lately they’ve tried to take the high moral ground over a simple and oft-used turn of phrase or jumped into faux outrage mode over an ironic/sarcastic comment. It was similar when Gerry Adams mentioned how Michael Collins paid visits to newspaper editors/staff and the blueshirts demanded he apologise for threatening violence on journalists. And now the Socialist Party are calling the Gardai dogs? Paul Kehoe has family members in the Gardai. How dare they?!

sure didnt a blueshirter call the water protestors ISIS ?

hopefully we can line them up against the wall in kilmainham for a proper 1916 remembrance, with john bruton last to be shot

My brother in law was in school with him. Let’s just say he hasn’t got any more intelligent with age.

Pat Carey has came out as a bumder. The Dail must be riddled with these deviants.

not as much as the northern assembly

It’s Shakepeare, Higgens is showing you up here

Huh?

Thats the dogs of war, coppinger referred only to the dogs which is clearly from animal farm. Oh, and theres no e in higgins

Coming out in Ireland is the “in” thing in 2015 after 2014 was the year of the anxiety / panic attack sufferer going public. How long before Bressie tries to get some publicity off this topical issue? Something like “I questioned my own sexuality as a teen”, admits Voice of Ireland star Bressie.

Gay and depressed and you are front page of the sindo material.

Mick Clifford writes good political analysis pieces. The linked article on Clare Daly’s FFA bill is interesting.

So Deputy John Lyons election in Dublin North West in 2011 at Carey’s expense was a case of swapping like with like.

That was an excellent piece, called the current situation 100% correct.
Sinn Fein shown up badly by events this week

Stuff like this always interests me. I’ve a good friend who worked with Frances Fitzgerald for a few years. He was amazed when she got justice as she is far from the sharpest tool in the shed by his accounts.

Fuck you lepidus

Take your beating like a man

There are a lot of people in politics who are not the sharpest tools in the box which suits the fuckers supporting the parties. They want people in there who are not too bright who they can manipulate. Half the politicians can’t even string and a sentence together without some sort of stuttering or mumbling.
