They got the M50 built twice.
Finsceal Beo coming 2nd the Poule dâEssai des Poulichesin in 007 was peak excess, Michael Ryan flew a jet full of hangers on to Paris for the weekend and paid for everything, we were a proper country back then
I think Iâve made this point a few times here that the culture of DPER has massively contributed to the infrastructure crisis.
the public wanted lowry & the healy raes - shit government is a response to how we voted
This is one of many issues. The planning system is one too though and Eamonn curiously doesnât mention the specifics of his time in government at all.
Whatâs curious do you think?
Richard Boyd Barret getting a lot of stick⌠i heard a 20 second soundbite where he said he has solidarity with the Ukrainian people and called it a brutal murderous invasion by Russia.
Not sure whatâs wrong with that view
Who is he getting stick from?
Pretty amazing how the RTE website crashed either side of that pronouncement

The moratorium on abusing RBB has expired. The waves of goodwill have been reduced to a gentle trickle. Game on again.
Lists of capital expenditure 2026:
- Purchase new Government jet, preferably from Netjets.
I like the look of this one actuallyâŚ
They lit up Leinster house purple in solidarity with disabled people.
Itâs practical stuff like this thatâll make the lives of people with disabilities so much better
The same Government that scoffed at the idea of a senior Minister for Disabled People because it was someone elseâs idea.
It would be good for him to give more concrete examples from his time in the transport ministry this time around.
For example getting some insight on why it took well over 2 years from him taking over for ML to get to planning. Was there delays from the Department then?
We are seeing now with lots of permissions received how they fan delay things/
I donât really get your point at all. You want him to back up everything he says with examples from his time in government?
It would be interesting to hear how the different hurdles delayed the project during his time. The fact is that it took far too long to get to planning.
We know about the historical cuts in projects, but really 2012 is not relevant to today. Also Eamonn shouldnât be implying that this is the same project as back then, it isnât.
It probably wouldnât be interesting, it would be mind numbingly boring. At least youâre agreeing with his key point that it took far too long.
If you found his piece interesting, youâd find the more contemporary stuff interesting, Iâd have thought.
I donât think that reading a detailed account of getting a major infrastructure project past PER would be interesting, it would be mind numbing and I donât think it would fit in a column.
