Ireland South Africa

You can give that ticket to someone else Runt as my contacts have already promised me a free ticket, as per usual. Not sure if i’ll take it up though.

stay away from the cheap seats & the sans culottes
he played brilliantly in the champions league & has done ok in the spl & the epl - he has played for better clubs & in more important games than reid

trap knows best & reid doesnt fit the system- end of story
Truth of the matter Trapp needed a sacrifical lamb to quieten unexpected media criticism after scraping by Cyprus in Dublin. The fat guy was the fall guy. Hopefully his club form will force his inclusion in the next few weeks.

yeah, cause the Irish sports media play a huge part in Trapps thinking - these guys such as dion are in a different league to the journalists of the gazzetta:rolleyes:

Trapp is extremely sensitive to media criticism. As a noted conniseur of continental football, I’m sure you can explain the background of his infamous media rant at Bayern Munich? You tube it first maybe

all his life he dealt with the sportsmad italian media or in the case of munich with a massive club & their fans- now he is in a footballing backwater with a sportsmedia that generally got their jobs through neoptism or copy articles from foreign countries- he wouldnt give a shit about what the sindo & all have to say - he lives in Italy- i doubt he even reads the mich papers

Quality response. Doesn’t answer my question tho…

Ah come off it. You really believe that KIB?

Team tomorrow is:
Westwood
Kelly McShane St Ledger Nolan
Keogh Gibson Andrews Lawrence
Folan Doyle (captain)

Any specific reason for McGeady’s exclusion?

Hopefully, he’s had a falling out with Trap following his demotion to the bench on Saturday.

It’d be great for Celtic if he were to drop out of the squad on a permanent basis.

Strange that Aiden isn’t playing.

RT suggesting it may be the lowest attendance for an Irish international match ever. I think they might need to revisit that fact but it certainly looks like being a bit of a non-event.

What moron decided to schedule it against the Champions Cup in Stillorgan anyway?

Simply the worst Irish side to represent the country in 20 years.

Good chance for the full backs. But… Lawrence always seemed totally right sided, Keogh on the right side of midfield is disgusting frankly and suggests the Irish management aren’t even watching club games where Keogh is partnering Doyle up front at Wolves. Pretty obvious that Trapp doesn’t give a shit about friendlies which might be a tad worrying for the money men in Merrion Square.

Yep, Larry I do. He wouldn’t be the first manager to jettison a player in order to lay down a marker for the rest of the squad. However in the case of Reid, he made the 2 subsequent squads following the ‘incident’. He also accused the Irish media of being friends with Reid etc. If we qualify the end will justify the means but if we are 2-0 early against Italy or 0-0 against Montenegro late on who do we summon? Gibson? Miller?

Anyone listen to some of the RTE extra webcast analysis thing with Dunphy, Giles, Souness and Bill? Bill seems to think of himself more as an analyst these days. Dunphy still sounded the horn for Lee Carsley. Ball winning isnt a problem for our midfield you mong. The only potential benefit of having Carsley if we needed a man marking midfielder as part of a 451. Rock already put up that Carsley will only join the squad if he starts anyway so he can jog on. The worst though was when Bill asked him about Keith Fahey, “well he is a full back Bill”. Fucks sake. Souness had some decent critical analysis of Robbie Keane. Was high time it was said on national television.

McGeady is injured and has been sent back to Glasgow.

Fucking meaningless international shit potentially robbing us of our most important player yet again.

Just because you have issues over your nationality doesn’t mean the rest of us have…:pint:

Yeah I watched it. For all its faults (not knowing much about opposition or anyone who plays outside EPL, exaggeration) always think RTE’s analysis is very good and far better than the competition. Liked Souness comments on Celtic also.

While you can throw argument around as to what might happen if we are 2 down against Italy I’m not at all sure we would have gotten results we have had team spirit not been as good as it has been. Workrate and endavour have been excellent and with squad as average as ours this matters a lot.

Who is actually going to this garbage? After seeing the team, i don’t know if i’ll bother going…

I would be surprised if there is more than 12k there tomorrow night. I am not going.

I think they played a friendly against Wales in the RDS a few years ago that there was less than 10k or 12k at it. Mark Pembridge scored for Wales.

they played them in tolka too - they also use to play shitty friendlies in pisser dignims field in front of woeful crowds
