Excellent from Coleman
Doubtful whether Walters’ shot was however.
I thought Bandage was anti this ref? He’s done us no harm so far.
I hope he turns out to be a fifth Collumnist for us.
Nah.
If Keane’s touch wasn’t as heavy there it would have been a peno
Plenty of positives to take from that half of football
Hard to react to that I guess. I’m liking the referee, letting it flow, to say the least.
Very good 45 minutes from the Fenians.
McCarthy has probably been our best player - as Chewy said (I think) he’s playing that disciplined holding role there which he wasn’t really playing a year or so ago and he’s doing it very well. Long has been very good up front too and Coleman looks our most assured defender. Forde has looked steady.
Bit concerned about Kelly at left back and he and McGeady are struggling with Johnson and Walcott. McGeady as ever is polarising opinion - I think he’s been ok. He’s won the ball back a couple of times, been involved in a few attacking moves and has offered a bit more than Walters.
Whelan has been poor in the middle of the park, Robbie hasn’t been great, St Ledger was doing fine but the goal was brutal defending from him. O’Shea is unconvincing.
Mcgeady has been somewhat wasteful. A quicker touch could have won us a peno off jaguelka.

As with the vast majority of your posts about the national side, I would concur with most of that. Would rate Coleman’s contribution slightly higher than yours though, best player on the pitch in that half
You can see the gulf between our lads playing at the higher end clubs regularly and the rest. McCarthy and Coleman are proper players, they’d be comfortable in any top side
Cahill you mean?
Half-time score: England 1 (Frank Lampard) Ireland 2 (David Kelly, Shane Long).
Good first half showing. McCarthy doing well and Coleman has looked dangerous going forward. He has been poor defensively though and has done fancy thing and been caught too often. McGeady done well and while he has his weaknesses we look a far more threatening side with him on the field.
England have been rather awful mind.
Surely an illegal tip-off from Rooney?
That was terrible from Whelan
Can’t believe this was let go. Typical of that hun ref.
That was a cracking clearance by Coleman (think it was he not St Ledger who got the touch). Walters was asleep for it.
