Ireland v Turkey

Daryl Murphy is worse than Benzema.

Jesus, this is some putrid shit to watch

Wilson is dreadful.

Nice finish by Walters.

Ray can’t figure out why the defender ran past Walters there instead of stopping and dispossessing him. What was he thinking?

Some cameo by Slab here. That dink out of play was comical.

GAA Games has been the most interesting thing on screen this evening.

Hoolahan announced stadium man of the match despite being useless.

FT: Ireland 1-2 Turkey.

O’Neill out

WTF is Quinn on about the much better team won tonight? fuck all between currently two poor sides, disappointing again.

Hoolahan is immune to criticism though. People seem to just assume he’s playing well.

I thought Hoolahan was good in the first half. Faded badly in the 2nd and did fuck all.

As an aside, I’d have fancied Forde to have saved both of Turkey’s goals.

Second goal was a bullet hard to do much from that range.

@Thrawneen , did you head along to this?
i needed a bit of peace so i headed off to the gym and had the game on 2FM, Adrian Eames and Brian kerr are a fine combination.
Brian was a little ruffled from having to sit 4 rows from the bleedin roof in Lisbon last night, so far back he didnt even get a team sheet and didnt know if Arda Turan was on the bench…
Anyway Brian came armed with some fine anecdotes about Fatih Terim and also had a great knowledge of the Turkish players, showing particular admiration for a fella who plays with Leverkusen who after playing all the up with Germany “did the decent thing” and now plays with his father’s country, you need honour, said Brian.
Brian was wholly unimpressed with Whelan and Wilson in the middle in the first half, he was also bemused as to why in a friendly we would line out with two 33 years old center halves, fair point says i,.
He was not at all impressed with Robbie Elliot, saying he was a “bit slow” and probably wont play for Ireland again.
There you have it.
Brain was mildly impressed by the Turks, saying we were “lucky” not to be drawn against them in the 2016 qualifiers, he praised their Galatasaray youth system and was delighted that over 20 of the squad they were taking to the US ( flying tonight from Dublin) all play in the Turkish Superleague, “real players” according to Brian

Twas straight at him though, he just needed to stand up.

@mickee321 I didn’t go. The uncle I’d usually get freebies off was busy getting elected yesterday so I didn’t bother him about it.

Hoolahan floated the ball up to Walters but I wouldn’t count that as an assist as the latter had loads to do himself before scoring. Thought Hoolahan was largely anonymous throughout aside from that.

We really need McCarthy to kick on as an imposing all round centre midfielder or we’re fucked. We also need to decide what to do at centre back and left back. I think Ward is hopeless and reverting to Wilson (who hasn’t been much better there) is probably the best thing to do.

I also think we still need Dunne to do us a turn at the back beside O’Shea as the likes of Delaney, Keogh and Wilson don’t seem up to it.

Delaney was brutal the few times i saw him in the EPL this year, a Colin Hawkins type of player

Did Stokes play or did his recent hair transplant rule him out of contention?
