Ireland vs Finland/England

HUMILITY.

Of the fake variety.

People would actually respect footballers of dubious character MORE if they were arrogant about how much money they were earning and set fire to a 50 pound note to goad people every time they were getting a kicking on social media.

Marie Antoinette had the right idea.

So he should. Embarrassing performance. 1 shot on goal in 90 minutes yet lads think we are improving.

We cant even get Taigs from Tyrone to declare for us.

Despite it only being England C… We should have had a pelanty and it would have been a completely different game if we come out second half with something to defend.

I think because England C troubled us so little first half we were a little emboldened and on a few attacks we completely lost shape and were wide open on the counter. We’re still transitioning to dentist ball.

There’s still 4/5 lads on that team that have no touch or ability to pass… and our midfield are all guilty of that which is a major fucking problem in soccer ball.

We don’t need to unearth the next Pirlo but if we can find someone for midfield that can pass 5 yards and can do it while being pressed hard then i can see us going a long way towards being in the top 50 in the world.

We actually lost to Greece in between the two Finland victories but the point still stands. We’re definitely better served under HH than we were with Spock in charge. The result was completely distorted by the red card. It reminded me of:

• Man City 5-0 Liverpool (2017) when Mane was sent off. Liverpool came back to beat City later that season and then dump them out of the Champions League. cc Footix thread.

•Limerick beating Cork by 9 points in the 2013 Munster Final after the Patrick Horgan red card. Cork went further in the All-Ireland series after it.

•Wexford being level with Clare coming up to HT in the All-Ireland quarter-final before a ROC red card ended the game as a contest and Clare won by 12 points.

Had VAR done its job properly in the first-half then we probably would’ve lost 2-1 or maybe a respectable 3-1. The red card was an awful shame. We all felt better after last night than the previous 3-0 defeat (under Kenny in 2020) and 2-0 in September.

No goat shaggers? You’d need to go up the road to Roscommon for them!

So he is less than the sum of his parts.

He’s probably on 200 grand a week also.

For those who think Ireland are improving turn on Scotland tonight. Light years ahead of us.

I’m not sure you understand measurements

It’s almost like Ireland wasted three years with the previous manager.

Putting 10 men behind the ball, kicking the ball 80 yards in the air to a centre half playing in midfield is improvement apparently.

We beat them 3-0 under the hapless Stephen Kenny. They weren’t too hectic at either of the last two Euros after you hyped them up.

Stephen was in possession of a hap that day. Serious buzz around the place.

I wonder what the knuckle draggers booing our anthem think of Carsley managing their team and the German about to succeed him.

What has Scotland got to do with it?

McTominay, McGinn, Robertson are agead of what we have now but the likes of Ferguson, Collins and Festy will get to that level I’d expect. We could badly do with a fella like Gilmour in midfield. He is unbelievably underrated.

We have a far better keeper and better centre-backs than the Scots. Porteous wouldn’t have made our squad at all.

I think we’ve a fine team in the making, just lack lads of their stature at the minute

We’re coming like a train
