Australian anger at passport use
Canberra has threatened retaliation over the use of Australian passports by three suspects in the Dubai killing of a senior Hamas leader.
Dubai authorities have now identified 26 people suspected of involvement in the killing of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, with three using forged Australian passports named among 15 new suspects, most of them Europeans.
Three of the suspects named yesterday were carrying fake Irish documentation with passport numbers and expiry dates that match legitimate Irish passports. Their names were given as Ivy Brinton, Anna Shauna Clasby and Chester Halvey.
The total number of suspects using fraudulent passports now stands at 12 British, six Irish, four French, three Australian and one German.
“Any state that has been complicit in use or abuse of the Australian passport system, let alone for the conduct of an assassination, is treating Australia with contempt and there will therefore be action by the Australian government in response,” said Australia’s prime minister Kevin Rudd.

The Israeli Embassy in Dublin has been sealed-off following the discovery of a suspicious package this morning.
GardaĂ were notified at 11.45am.
There have been no evacuations, but Pembroke Road is sealed off to traffic.

UK expels Israeli diplomat
The British government said today it was expelling an Israeli diplomat over the use of forged British passports by suspected killers of a Hamas commander in Dubai.
Foreign secretary David Miliband told parliament there were compelling reasons to believe Israel was responsible for the misuse of British passports in the case and said he had sought assurances that Israel would not misuse them again.
