The group winner gets a chance to qualify automatically for the Euros. Not a friendly. Not difficult to understand either.

Who was saying eire was doing Trojan work at grassroots level teaching rhem to kick the ball and all that but they are introducing the most technically useless players in their history onto the showcase senior Eire team
Who was that it was one of the scummy soccer lads who was doing a bit of coaching of 6 year olds or something who did a kick start course,?

Are you expecting 6 years olds to be playing for the senior team, mate? The u19s are going very well along with the u17s doing well in the summer

All well to see the u17 and u19 teams doing well but the key will be can any of these players become regulars at decent clubs . A look at the clubs of the tonightโ€™s Irish players says it all .

They wonโ€™t because it would hurt them a lot financially in the short term but they should try to stay/get away from England. The lower leagues in England are no place to develop technically

And go where? Not many European clubs would look at an irish young lad. (do many english lads play on the continent even)

How about doing what most countries do and supporting and growing a domestic soccer league.

Why not coach young lads properly so. Instead of a stated aim at looking for anyone with an irish granny. An easier cop out

3 players on the team that beat the best team in europe are LOI

The future is bright

How many of todays u19 wernt born in ireland?

No idea. How many of todays seniors?

Plenty would if their demands were low enough especially considering how well the u17s and u19s have done recently. Iโ€™m not talking about going straight into a Serie A or La Liga side

What was the team today?

Randolph
Doherty
Long
Mclean
Maguire
Duffy

Ive no idea of the team. Long wasnโ€™t born in ireland?

Yes he was. Duffy as well

This is cyclical with the Irish team, regimes become stale towards the end, horrible results follow along with the doom and gloom and the management gets the boot or leaves. We will all be singing shoes off for the boys in green again soon enough after qualifying for another major tournament.

Yeah i thought that. I was wondering how many of the starting team today wasnt. Underage means little, the fai have stated they are looking for irish qualified players, so whats the senior representation

We still have a decent chance of getting to the Euros. 3rd in the group gets a playoff. Canโ€™t see it with this management though

Is the 3rd place play off still in place or has this nations league shite taken those places?

Good question that I donโ€™t know the answer to
