Irish soccerball nil - That boy Bazunu will save us (Part 1) šŸ

which Kiwi or South African are the rugby lads waiting for residency for. I believe there were joyous scenes in Connemara when Bundee Oā€™Aki met his requirements in '17

Declan has never represented England.

If anything, England are the desperate ones in this situation. Trying to steal a player who has represented Ireland at all youth levels and has been capped 3 times by Ireland.

Oh Iā€™m just pointing out heā€™s the next one

Indeed, or how about the lad who made his debut for Irelands world select last November who previously declared wearing the England shirt was his ultimate honour

Economic migrants to Ireland. Players who also developed their games in Ireland.

Declan Rice like Jack Grealish is humming and hawing over playing for the ROI because he wants to see how many caps heā€™d win with England. He grew up in England, went to an English academy, plays for an English club and never has nor is never likely to live in Ireland. His granny makes him eligible and you lads are tracking his social media behaviour to see which way the wind is blowing. Itā€™s laughable.

Iā€™m pretty sure he said this. https://www.google.ie/amp/s/amp.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/rugby/ulster-rugby/will-addison-i-liked-to-stand-out-by-supporting-ireland-while-growing-up-in-england-37502452.html

So what though?

Where does he play now?

Was anyone waiting around on tentherhooks to see if heā€™d declare for Ireland? Thereā€™s a highly talented hooker from Louth who moved over to Saracens because he got in a dispute with the IRFU. He is English qualified and he probably will play for them now- you get over it. When Shane Geraghty declared for England after representing Ireland at underage it was barely mentioned or an issue beforehand.

Because the ROI have such poor player stocks this guy is now nirvana. When the English were watching Wayne Rooney before a WC to see if he was limboing the Irish public sat back and laughed. The Irish soccer community are now tracking the moves of a central defender. Itā€™s hilarious.

The scummy soccer crowd giving out about other sports switching allegiances? Tony Cascarino anyone?

You literally couldnā€™t make it up.

cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy

it is mildly amusing alright.

Less sinister than the rugby lads tracking rape trials though

The IRFU learned a lot from Bundees first interview in Ireland when he declared he was only in Ireland because he wasnā€™t good enough to play for NZ and playing for Samoa wouldnā€™t be as financially rewarding. Thatā€™s why you now get statements like the above, or CJ Stander saying it was always his grandfatherā€™s dream that he play international rugby for anyone but England. Robbie Keane was brilliant at that type stuff too when moving around clubs for extra cash.
It says in the article there where he plays now, Belfast. Mainly due to a chat with the coach of the Ireland International team who came over and asked him turn his back on his dream to play for England and declare for Ireland, and the bundle of extra money he is being paid to wear the green shirt. Nothing wrong with anyone choosing to support such mercenaries, itā€™s clear Riceā€™s decision will be made with his heart though and so itā€™s a little more complicated.

Again. These guys work and live in Ireland. They have developed their games here.

Meanwhile the soccer lads are desperately holding out hope for a young lad who has lived and played in England and who wants to play for them, to have a change of heart. A central defender at that. It is absolutely hilarious.

Qualified already mate .

Addison played his first competitive game for an Irish club side this September and was announced in the Irish squad in October, I wonder how much his game developed in them 2 months? Letā€™s face it, in terms of granny seeking the IRFU are no better or worse than the FAI, itā€™s just less of an issue as far fewer pay much attention to rugby matters beyond the televised games.
