He’s kind of over egging the whole celtic invasion bit… that’s more popular myth than anything. Plenty of scholars, including some i studied under, believed the celtic invasion was cultural and economic rather than physical.

I got down to Bodenstown this evening to finally visit Wolfe Tone’s grave. I got a bit of luck with meeting a volunteer from the National Graves Association who was there doing a bit of weeding. Brought me into the grave itself (it’s behind locked gates) and whilst cleaning, there was a badge left behind from the shinners comemoration at the weekend. I was buzzing, a nice gift.

Over the last while I did the 1916 walking tour with Phelim Drew. That was fantastic to do. Was expecting Lorcan Collins, but Phelim was amazing. Even gave a rendition of Johnston’s motorcar on the tour.
@Locke @Malarkey @cluaindiuic or any of the reat of the cats, any of you lads know if Larry Scallan is still doing the history tours of the barracks in Kk city? Been watching a few of Davy Holden’s video’s which are fantastic. He did a video with Larry in the barracks, went into detail about Kilkenny participation in the rising and that.
Larry’s from Duncormick I learned. Seems like a great historian.

Theres a great play on it, Catalpa, the movie. Its a one man show written by Donal O Kelly from The Van, about 30 years ago. An amazing piece of theatre.

My mate a church of Ireland chap used drive a bus load of us back in the day to his grave,
