The pro Clare Daly stuff had got a bit too rabid for me. A loss overall but I unsubscribed when the war kicked off.

It would have been a loss years ago, but it became more and more a deranged, loony left rag.

Phoenix Magazine Peddles Putin’s Propaganda

From your starting position everything is left in fairness :man_shrugging:

The Phoenix will not rise from the ashes.

Good riddance.

I used to buy the Phoenix magazine in the summer of 1992 as a child. I’d say I bought 12 issues of it in a row. The funnies in it were very good and I got most of them. The phrase “UN waffles” sticks in my mind (as in potato waffles, as in a sketch where political institutions went into the food business).

RIP. It will be a loss but like Bewleys, Sky Sports, GAAGO and my local heroin dealer, it was a beloved institution that has been around for decades that was always destined to collapse because I wouldn’t pay any more.

They went off the reservation at the outset of the Ukranian war. They took the full Daly position.

There was always a stance but it became a joke and was impossible to justify continuing to subscribe to them.

Part of their thing historically was that they had a fairly big business section that attracted in a broader readership than just anoraks and left leaning types. I reckon they’ve lost a lot of ads since then.
