Irish soccerball nil - That boy Jinky will save us (Part 2)

Have we made a mistake in sacking Spock? :astonished:

Will history prove kind to Steve?

Edit : you just answered the second qs

Ferguson has ten caps. So thatā€™s a quarter of them straight away. Isnā€™t a manager alive who wouldnā€™t pick a premier League striker for Ireland regardless of age.

Gaz Baz as a teenager is another ten or so of them. There was no GK so he had to pick someone. Again I doubt anyone different would have picked anyone else.

Troy Parrott and Obafemi are another shot of them. Mick McCarthy gave both their debuts.

I think Richard Dunne summed it up best when he said that Stephen Kenny wasnā€™t capable of managing the Irish national team.

He specifically pointed to in game management - making changes and motivating and energising the team when things got tough.

Can we all just move on now?

Yes we can. But who are we moving on to?

We can and many of us have. Kenny had his shot and he wanted it, and we wanted it to go well. It didnt, it shouldnt have taken this long, but Iā€™m sorry for him it didnt work out.

Cmon on down Big Sam.

Well thatā€™s another question.

My father in law was around this morning and the first thing he said to me was that Chris Hughton had ruled himself out of the job.

I havenā€™t seen any reference to that anywhere.

I think heā€™s about as good as we can hope for (his terrible spell at Forest accepted @Lazarus)

Just give it to Big Mick McCarthy.
Probably end up with John Sheridan

The same here. I think his recent interviews were a mix of a fella who was terrible at interviews and was scrambling at defensive comments just in case the FAI hadnā€™t yet been swayed.

I bear him no ill will.

Fair enough.

Brian Barry Murphy bring some Cork to the setup

Aye. Hard to see him walk out on Ghana after 9 games, but recent results havenā€™t been great, even if he is only in the job a hot fortnight.

Heā€™s had a few poor runs in all his clubs, but then again theres not many managers who havent.

And give him a decent run at it this time, not eight games.

I like Hughton but heā€™s hardly got a progressive profile. Heā€™s well into his 60s at this point and on the verge of getting sacked from Ghana. Iā€™d throw him in the ā€˜about as inspiring as a bucket of pissā€™ catagory along with Big Sam, Tony Pulis, Steve Bruce, Neil Lennon, Damian Duff, Big Mick McArthy, Rafa Benitiz

Sure Roy would be ultimate Cork -
Iā€™d like to see Tony O Donoghue handle an interview and Roy sticking the head in.

Roys a head case though

heā€™s led the City EDS to trophy after trophy and Guardiola handpicked him by all accounts because of the football Rochdale were playing in league 1. Heā€™s working with the best of the best at that level but would his football principles marry with the talent in the Irish setup? Iā€™d guess that at least it would be more cohesive and joined up than passing sidewards then hoofing when the sideways pass has dried up and thereā€™s nobody else to pass to. Would it get results? Probably not
