Irish version of The Hills to hit tv screens

This is so wrong it needs its own thread

From The Hills of MTV to the clubs of Dublin

EXPOSED: Now our socialites really will have it all in TV show

The young, gorgeous and loaded social set of Dublin are set to become stars in a new Irish reality TV show.

It will be based on MTV smash The Hills, which charts the daily lives of pampered LA socialites and which has made major celebrities out of the likes of Lauren Conrad and newlyweds Heidi and Spencer Pratt.

Filming began early this week and is still in progress, with scenes being shot at some of favourite haunts of the young and wealthy around town.

Locations such as Krystle nightclub, VIP magazine offices on Ely Place, Brown Thomas department store and a number of high-profile restaurants around town will all feature in the pilot episode of the show, which aims to become a regular TV feature.

All participants are forbidden from talking about the show publicly and are bound by a confidentiality clause.

If successful, those who bagged the coveted parts could find themselves known on an international level as well as here, with plans to take the show overseas by having it aired on MTV in Britain.

Among those involved with the production of the show is David Coffey, the man behind satirical comedy series Dan and Becs, who both starred in and wrote the popular programme.

The pilot series has not been given a name yet, but producers are said to be looking for something which sums up living in an affluent Dublin suburb.

A number of familiar faces will be popping up on the show, with some of Dublin’s well known catwalk queens lined up to take part. A set insider explained: "There are four models and two PR girls in it.

"They’re taken from a few different agencies including First Option, Compton and Rogue Model Management.

"Ironically, they all have boyfriends already – but I’m sure the producers will still manage to cause some drama around it.

“There will be plenty of tears, tantrums and back-stabbing and the whole thing is scripted just like the original show,” they added.

The original stars of the Hills enjoy a cult following among teens and are recognised around the world by fans of the show and even those who don’t watch it.

They have gone on to endorse products, design fashion lines and star in other programmes – with Heidi and Spencer recently taking part in the US version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, while Whitney Port went on have her own spin-off series called The City.

Based in New York, the City is based on a similar format to the Hills with Whitney taking the starring role.

Oh My God …

FFS, do we not have enough of these mockumentary bullshit shows that blur the line of reality for retarded halfwits who think they could make it the world but in reality have the same chance of being hit by lightning indoors twice in one day.

Like, kudos to MTV, the show is a marketing and cultural phenomenon but the avid followers of this show are exactly the type of vapid, braindead clones that the world could do without.

In reality MTV have a lot to fucking answer for…

Ah Dave. Time to disown him I think.

Hopefully there’ll be a good recession bite to it.

Daddy’s business goes bust - they then film her as the Martin Foley’s debt collection company come knocking at the door. Oh the joys.

The sad thing about this is that those of us with other halfs could be forced to watch this unbearable shite.

It won’t survive six months…

Leeson Street will soon enough to back to the way it was 20 years ago, then a show like this may be watchable.

Until then, who wants to see the inside of renards or other such magnificance through a lens…

Typical RTE, derivative remakes of copied shows from abroad.

I’m glad to say that my other half would rather stick a compass in her eye than watch that tripe

Good stuff Fran. Wish they were all bred like her. :guns: :guns:

Most Irish women of course will be too cute to say they want to watch it, but will watch it nonetheless.

Plans to air it in Britain? Jesus, our reputation abroad will hit rock bottom if any of this silliness is let out of the country.
The Expos girls must be creaming themselves with excitement.

Shut up you fuckin gobshite

maybe it’s just a cunning plan to lurk all the glitterati from the sindo into cafe insane prices and then lock the doors and firebomb the place:thumbsup:

Flame-haired Dublin model Valerie Phelan has triumphed over tough competition to take one of the starring roles in a new Irish reality TV show, based on MTV smash hit The Hills.

The Herald can reveal the former Miss Ireland contestant and five other high-society hotties were selected to emulate the likes of LA socialite Lauren Conrad and her co-stars Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag in the pilot programme for the new series.

Crown

Valerie first hit the headlines when she went head to head with controversial army lieutenant and South County Dublin representative Collette McBarron in the Miss Ireland contest last summer.

However neither girl walked away with the crown, with Meath’s Sinead Noonan scooping the top prize.

And now it seems Rogue model Valerie, who represented Dublin Central in the beauty pageant, has won over TV producers with her natural beauty and star quality.

“The producers of the show were looking for people who were well-known but not necessarily famous,” explained a set insider.

"There’s no doubt that Valerie is recognised by those in the business, but she isn’t photographed every night of the week at every launch in town, which worked very much in her favour.

“They didn’t want someone who was so well known that they would become bigger than the brand or the programme,” they added.

Valerie is believed to be playing one of the main roles on the programme and has been filming alongside her co-stars at a number of high-profile locations throughout the city including Krystle nightclub, VIP magazine offices on Ely Place, Brown Thomas department store and several exclusive restaurants.

The 23-year-old has just finished her finals in a degree in Retail and Services Management and is very much loved up at the moment.

Her Rogue model management colleague Danielle Robinson will also star in the new series.

First Option model Suzanne McAdam has also bagged a spot on the programme, while Morgan the Agency model Shireen McDonagh is said to have nabbed the fourth model spot on the programme.

Two other females who work in PR will also feature in the much anticipated pilot, while the males being used are currently being kept under wraps by producers.

Overseas

If successful, those who bagged the coveted parts could find themselves known on an international level as well as here in Ireland, with plans to take the show overseas by having it aired on MTV in Britain.

Among those involved with the production of the show is David Coffey, the man behind satirical comedy series Dan and Becs, who both starred in and wrote the popular programme.
