Chilling even.
Who will the Liverpool footix opt for now?
Of course the breakaway league plans havenāt been shelved. In truth it might be better for everyone if the self appointed dozen or so fucked off to some glorified WWF, and left the grass roots game to itself.
Iād bet you, for instance, that Villa fans would be far more interested in them playing Brum city than yanited or Liverpool
Be absolutely ideal for footix too. Just completely footixify the whole thing and we could just watch our favourite teams playing in big games all the time in prime time slots. Wouldnāt be as ridiculous following the teams when they are just unashamed global franchises rather than maintaining the facade that they have strong links to a local community were not from
Shanks would approve
But the top Premier League teams donāt need the rest of Europe, its the top European teams that need the Super League. Their domestic leagues cannot compete with the Premier League, which threatens to become the NBA of the game.
Football is reaping the bitter harvest of allowing unregulated money to worm its way into the game. Unregulated money now owns the game. Itās the very global nature of the game itself, the competition between leagues and the lust for money amongst its administrators, that prevented such regulation. UEFA tried briefly to regulate the money in the game but Manchester Cityās lawyers were always going to defeat them. Itās like how Russian money came back to bite Europe after Europe had got fat on it for decades.
England was always going to be the winner of this unregulated money race because of the English language and worldwide cultural pull - which is especially important with the ever growing American market, because it had many big and well supported clubs, because of its wild west financial culture, and because it was able to monetise itself better than other European leagues which were each dominated by one or two super clubs.
In the long run the Premier League too risks being eaten by the hand that feeds it if it allows a top seven to run away or if some of that seven fall away. But the Premier League probably expects other fantastically rich regimes to come in and buy up other potential big clubs like Everton, Leeds, Aston Villa, West Ham or Sunderland to create a big 11 or big 12. Thereās a critical mass of money now in England and the Premier League doesnāt need a Super League which would threaten the exalted position of some of its monied clubs.
Amazingly enough Serie A now looks in the best position to be the best league of the rest over the coming decade or so because it has five or six genuinely big clubs who can compete against each other on a reasonably even footing. Spain, France and Germany donāt have that.
Something mental will probably happen over the next few years like Real Madrid or Barcelona voting their own ownership structure out of existence followed by them being bought up by China or a proxy for the BJP in India, or Dubai or more Saudis, or Elon Musk. Probably followed by the disintegration of the organisation of European football along nation state lines and the possible collapse of UEFA altogether.
After someone pointed out Qatar was a country.
Itās important for posters to be flexible in their opinions
This takeover is very much on brand for Liverpool and their support base.
Weāll crush those Zionist Manchester Reds. Inshallah!
I assume this will be the end of the Carlsberg sponsorship. Probably.
I would never have folleed or taken an interest in the lower leagues in England. Would there be a more even spread of teams on an equal footing, therefore making their leagues more entertaining over a season? I would know next to nothing of Division 1 and 2, but imagine they all have no money.
Yes, that joke was done 10 hours ago. Well done.
Very Good Tim. Excellent.
Itās not a joke mate, itās the reality of what Liverpool FC are. I donāt see an issue with it.
A disgusting murderous regime will now have fitting owners
Will i have his hands cut off for you?
only downside from this is kloppo would have to leave the murderers considering his previous comments
If you say so.
