Is rugby dead in Australia

as far as I can see it is all but dead
its too slow- its lack of skill and speed doesnt appeal to the masses

most aussies see it as boring-mark ella said its dreadful to watch

big international games arent on live tv and club rugby league games are shown instead

Proud clubs like Randwick and Gordon are on their knees. The Sydney Morning Herald has pretty much stopped covering the game

a lot of australian games in the last world cup were not shown live

It will be once McGahan takes over.

is sport in trouble in Aus or it is just a few sports? Their olympic results have fallen from highs in the 90’s

cheika is coming to NSW too I believe

It never recovered after the poms beat them in their own back yard. You cant underestimate what the psychological affect of a master beating his dog, has on the poor dog.

cue fisty coming on this thread to tell us Australian sport is thriving

where is the club in randwick?

behind the racetrack

Improved testing

If the aussies get good at the sport they will be interested in it again-it is mainly because they are so so at it at the moment that the public is losing interest. It will always be No.4 choice down there anyway I’d say. The Aussie psyche does not like to think they can be beaten in any sport so it is easier for them to just pretend it is not happening.

The lions tour will surely be a good assessment of whether there still is interest?

who are the lions and why are they going on a tour to Australia?

Quite a few of their young hopefuls have made a recent move to Gaelic Football, as one young chap who has represented WA in rugby and is on an Aussie Rules development squad said last night “that’s the best fucking game I have ever played” * after his first game.

Rugby is dead and AFL would want to be very fucking careful if this “gah” takes off .

Edgy.

What team did you make in CBC, tallback? And who was your coach?

it appears they play in coogee oval. Ive only ever seen young lads playing soccer in there.

The high was their own Olympics in 2000. They obviously went all out for that. But also in fairness to them, they are competing with nations with 10 & 20 times the population, which is something they seem to forget.

On top of that, many countries copied their formula with the Institute of sport etc. and they are no longer ahead of the game in regards to sports science, in fact they ate well behind.

On top of that the underage drink and drug culture is off the charts here. They do have a great schools system though, with so many specialist schools. From 13-14 my woman was in a Soccer & Rugby based school, playing shit loads of soccer every week, she got a scholarship for it, but there was about 15 scholarships for every year. This happens across the board now but it has taken alot from the Olympic type sports

sick

Not quite.

Why are they called lions ?, and why is going to play a few friendly, non competiive rugby games considered to be “going on a tour”?..is it just gang of lads going on a pubcrawl or something to oz?..

.

as far as Im aware- last time britain played here their fans outnumbered the aussies
