Sunderland will finish comfortably above relegation if Defoe can bag 7 or 8 goals between now and the end of the season. Their lack of an out and out goalscorer has really held them back under Poyet

As I said the other week, Sunderland will finish comfortably in mid table now they have Defoe. They needed a goal threat as they are a solid side but lacked it a goal scorer, they now have one
He’s looked very sharp it has to be said. It definitely screamed of a panic buy but it looks like it will be a short term success at the least.
The balance of the team is much better with Reveillere and Van Aanholt back in the team, and help us going forward so much.
Rev is a classy player, so composed on the ball. One of the best signings Sunderland have made in recent times, oozes quality.

Not really a surprise after the Villa loss and we’ve been poor this season. Hard to know about Gus, he did some excellent things but some of his signings were awful and he was very very negative even against negative sides.
Will we get someone better? That’s probably not likely either. Fucking hell, it’s going to be a long couple of months.
