Jamie Vardy or Harry Kane

He swore on his childā€™s life to claim one of those goals.

So you think Englandā€™s progress is down to Harry Maguire, John Stones and Pickford? Kaneā€™s hold up play and ability to bring others in to the game is under appreciated but understandable for those with a limited knowledge of the game. Vardy was quick and a good finisher. Kane is a better all round player. Kane along with Saka were Englandā€™s best players against France.

Vardy looks to be a team player. Kane is all about Kane and cares more about winning the golden boot(s) than his team winning. Heā€™s also of very dubious character - the diving and engineering of fouls would put a Portuguese player to shame.

Mate, you laud Kanes hold up play and ability to bring others into the game, and youā€™ve spent years lambasting one of the best in the game at doing that for your beloved Liverpool. I think youā€™re telling fibs here.

Paddy should really stay out of this and focus on Eire related matters like is Michael Obafemi or Evan Ferguson a better player.

Thinly veiled I havenā€™t a leg to stand on here.

A really poor effort here. ā€˜You dont think Kane is a god so you must think maguire is greatā€™ Ha!
Go back to shouting at grannies mate. Itā€™s what you do best.

@mikehunt is very knowledgeable on soccer matters. You get great insight off his measured and considered contributions.

Well if Kane isnā€™t the reason why Englandā€™s performances in major tournaments have improved then whose responsible? Gareth Southgate?

I have lambasted Firmino for being shit since 2018.

Maguire is a good international defender. Youā€™d question a club who cant get a tune out of him.

Youā€™re a disgrace.

Weā€™ll struggle on and try to enlighten them.

Id say there are a few reasons. Southgate being the biggest. His decision to deploy the ultra cautious winning football has been a success i think. With regard to attacking play youā€™d have to say Saka and bellingham over the last year or two and Sterling over the last 5 have been absolutely crucial for him. You need lads to break lines and score important goals.

Capello was an ultra cautious coach with apparently much better players. Are ypu saying Southgate is a better manager than Capello?

To me Southgate is now the reason why England havenā€™t got over the line.

His decision to bring a heap of players off the bench in 2020 Euros final penalty shoot out arguably cost England that championship.

He also ridiculously hooked Saka against France when he was flying it.

England have good players. Another manager may well win something with them.

Weird the way you keep moving away from what i say and trying to deflect to something else.
But yes, i think Southgate has been a better manager of england than capello was. Not a better manager, but better for england.

All arguable anyway. But heā€™s the first manager who looks to have united the england team since terry venables. He has lifted their level of achievement considerably from what it was. Iā€™d agree with you on saka, and possibly the penoes one but fhere are a heap of calls like this in every game. His level of getting them right is very high.

Southgate to his credit has given opportunities to players from less fashionable clubs. Predecessors were wheeling out Phil Jones and Danny Rose because they played for big clubs.

You laughably give more credit to Sterling than Kane for Englandā€™s improvement in major competitions. You sound like the Italian poster.
