January Transfer Window 2013

I can see why Galliani compared him to Kaka.

Italy are bringing through a golden generation of footballers right now.

QPR are looking to sign Peter Odemwingie from West Brom

Sunderland have signed Kader Mangane on loan, if memory serves me correct he scored against Celtic in the Europa League last season, a big powerful defender who should be an upgrade on the likes of Oā€™Shea, Bramble, Kilgallon and Cuellar.

He did indeed. Heā€™s certainly tall but didnā€™t think he was hugely impressive in that game but wasnā€™t much to be judging a player on anyway and they do have plenty of dross as you point out.

Loic Remy likely to sign for QPR tomorrow. 'Arry working his magic again. QPR will be fucked if they go down.

He has signed now-youā€™d have to wonder what the fuck is going on in Remyā€™s head moving from Marseille to a team at the bottom of the EPL-dollars I suppose.

Soccer : QPR have confirmed the signing of Marseille striker Loic Remy for a club record fee. The France international has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at Loftus Road after choosing the Premier League basement boys over Newcastle.

Hoops boss Harry Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk: ā€œIā€™m delighted to bring him in - heā€™s a great buy for us.ā€

The official fee for the 26-year-old has not been undisclosed. Redknapp added: "I didnā€™t think weā€™d get him to be honest but (chairman) Tony Fernandes worked ever so hard on this. He wouldnā€™t give up on it, and itā€™s great that we now have him here with us.

ā€œHeā€™s always been a player Iā€™ve admired. Iā€™ve watched him on so many occasions throughout the last few years. I actually spent three or four hours with him last year so he knew what I thought of him, and I think that was important. Heā€™s quick, can score goals and makes great runs. His movement is excellent. Heā€™s got the potential to be a really outstanding striker.ā€

Remy, who has four goals in 17 caps for France, is eligible to make his Rangers debut against West Ham Saturday, subject to receiving international clearance.

He said: "Harry played a big part in me coming here. I spoke to him and Tony Fernandes at length and they made it clear they wanted me here. They gave me the right motivation to join QPR. I want to develop my game here. This season the objective is to stay up but beyond that we have greater objectives.

ā€œAfter seven years in France, this is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League - the best League in the world. I am confident I can adapt to the Premier League. My main characteristics have taken me to the level I am at today but I am keen to keep improving in the Premier League.ā€

Totti, Liverpool have had an Ā£8m bid for Countinho turned down, they are expected to increase it. Thoughts?

Coutinho has been a bit of a strange one, has looked quite good when he has had some opportunities and came with a big reputation but a succession of managers have came and went at Inter since arriving and they all seem to have little faith in him. He was meant to have done well on loan at Espanyol last season.

Galatasaray saying that Wesley Sneijder has agreed terms with them. Backward move for him surely.

Werenā€™t Manchester United in for him?

Utd were interested in the summer of 2011. Wage demands were extortionate and scuppered any potential deal. No interest since then.
Sneijder has played very little in the last 18 months and would be a risky purchase.

For the transfer fee paid I donā€™t think heā€™d be that risky. Think itā€™s only around ā‚¬7m - sad to see a playerā€™s greed reduce him to that all the same.

I think Sneijder would be worth the risk if his wages werenā€™t ridiculous

+1

As Fran said itā€™s his wages that have been the problem. Awful attitude and his form has been dreadful since he decided heā€™s worth silly money.

Sad indeed. Depends on his wage demands. Heard that he was looking for around Ā£90k net per week. With lower tax rates in Turkey compared to England obviously the deal makes more sense for Galatasaray than any interested English club.

Iā€™m aware of that Rocko, there were rumours this morning that he asked for a wage cut at Inter to stay but they refused. I think he suffered a guilty conscience and wanted to do right. Heā€™s undoubtedly a talented player but not a reliable one, when you think of what some of the charlatans in the EPL are paid though it wouldnā€™t be the biggest risk ever taken.

Or he saw his career disappearing into oblivion in Turkey and tried to stay with Inter and ressurect his career in a high profile league. Like you say, talented but not reliable.

Still looked the part at the Euros I thought. Heā€™s a strange one Sneijder.

Iā€™ve seen quotes saying that due to the higher tax bands in England, clubs would have to pay him Ā£9m a year to match his current salary. Greedy bastard seems to be scrambling now trying to avoid a career ending trip to Turkey. You have to wonder with these cunts-how much is enough? He is already a multi-millionaire and should be at the peak of his career-now looks likely to end up in Turkey so he can throw more on the large pile he already has.
