January Transfer Window Thread

I was expecting some moral support in the Celtic thread. Can one of you at least put up the pic of a delusional Bandage or Rock comrade outside Croke Park last year.
im afraid celtic would be one of the many teams i like KIB- you’re fighting that one on your own

You brought it on yourself KIB

Best stay out of any debate involving celtic and them boys KIB…they are Fundamentalists when it comes to Celtic…I got awful abuse off them earlier in the year when I suggested that Clinton Morrison would have been a good signing as he is as good as any of their other strikers…

Schoolboy error KIB - you line up your supporters BEFORE engaging in battle with these boys. Safety in numbers and all that. Best of luck though, feel like you’re fighting a losing battle though.

Your fellow Villan Rintintin has really let you down badly here.

ha, he was in their price range too ie. free.

To be fair to Rintin its kicked off in the Celtic thread. So he prob hasnt bothered to look at it. Dont know why they brought Villa up to be fair.

School boy error or not I have to push on. With the week that’s in it (KIB playing Munster final at wkend) I’m confident of success.

that fucker never told a word of the truth in his life

Sky Sports News had this transfer as ‘Breaking News’ during their 7pm bullet-in tonight, a mere 24 hours after it was broken on here. Keep it here during January folks.

I sent Andy Burton a text message about it earlier on
Interesting. All is not well in the state of Abramovich obviously.

I would definitely take Owen ahead of Heskey but I have a feeling that Benitez would take Heskey instead of Owen.

Either way I would say it is dependant on Pennant getting sold for around 5m which may not happen.
Mental. Owen isn’t worth a curse. Heskey is a shite goalscorer but he is a good team player and I’d imagine he’d provide space and assists to Torres. Having said that I don’t want him but would take him over little Mickey.

Would have Doyle ahead of either of them. What’s he valued at?

GRIMSBY chairman John Fenty has revealed there is a glimmer of a chance that former England striker Robbie Fowler will join the Coca-Cola League Two club.

The 33-year-old is currently with Barclays Premier League side Blackburn, but is out of contract at the end of this month.

Fenty retains hope that Fowler may make a sensational move to Blundell Park.

Fowler knows Grimsby manager Mike Newell well, leading to talk of a possible deal.

Fenty said: The manager had some discussions with Robbie and then asked me if we could potentially take it forward for Robbie to come in a playing/coaching capacity.

Is the fact that Liverpool look like signing a striker in Jan a sign that even Benitez acknowledges that Robbie Keane has failed?

To be honest i was surprised when they signed him and he has been a disaster. Without torres they look a very ordinary team

Liverpool need more cover up front anyway since Kuyt has become a right winger and Ngog doesn’t look like he’s up to much

so how bad was Juande Ramos considering he got 55m for keane and berbatov??..

2 points from 8 games didn’t look good. He might have turned it around but Levy has fired how many managers now?

Anyway, regarding Liverpool, I still think Keane could do it if he gets the chance, and some service - big if with Benitez’s tactics I know

I never understood the logic in buying Keane particularly for so much money. After the incredible rotation that occurred in the first half of last season it finally looked as if Liverpool had settled on a proper formation (4-2-3-1) incorporating Gerrard in the team off Torres with Mascherano and Alonso behind in midfield. Surely the area to focus on was the flanks and perhaps an out and out striker as back up for Torres as well as another central midfielder also possibly. Instead he blows his budget on Keane who plays in the Gerrard role meaning Gerrard has to be accommodated again.

I feel sorry for Keane. There is no doubt that he is a decent player but he has never got the chance to play for a considerable length in his best position. I also think now that Benitez realizes that he doesn’t fit in and constantly substitutes him. Someone mentioned that he is playing now looking over to the bench constantly to see if he is going to be taken off. That’s true. And taking him off for the useless pile of shite Ngog took the biscuit – and for the first time Keane looked pissed off.

I take Clarkey’s point though on the fact that we are top of the league. I don’t want to keep sounding negative but I saw something horrible in Liverpool on Monday night. Panic, lack of shape, lack of guile and most worryingly of all lack of knowledge from the bench to know what to do.

There’s reports in Spain stating that Manchester City have offered Real Madrid €150m for Iker Casillas.

The story goes on to state that the player doesn’t have any interest in joining the club, despite the €13m per year annual salary being offered.

Insane.

Doubt if Ramos had much to do with selling either player, Levy seems more interested in making Spurs profitable than actually making them competitive.

Ramos had obviously lost the confidnece of the players, they looked and played like different, better, players when Redknapp arrived.

madness…harte will be the English keeper within the next 2 years i’d say…Casillas seems to have lost his edge a bit…was shocking against getafe on saturday…

So who exactly are Man City going to buy then?

Casillas? Buffon?
Fabregas?
Aguero?
What defender will they spend millions on to partner Dickie Dunne at the back?

And how the fuck is Darius Vassell still in that team?
