Aston Villa have agreed a fee of 4m with Wigan for the services of the Emile Heskey. Thats very expensive for a 31 year old out of contract in 6 months.

He has his uses but at 31 he aint goin to improve. His goalscoring record is horrible. Not the signing to have the big 4 quaking in their boots thats for sure. I know we needed a striker with Carew’s injury worries and the ongoing ineptitude of Marlon Harewood but we needed someone different. Not a run of the mill big man up front. Someone with guile would have added to the squad with different attributes. I would have preferred someone like Elano who could have played in the hole. But MON is a slave to basic tactics.
Jimmy Bullard has signed for hull for 5m from Fulham.
Fulham have played this one well imo. Bullard has had a serious injury and is on the wrong side of 30. He should have waited till the summer. We will see how many touches of the ball he gets at Hull.
Maybe hes going with the “if its not broke don`t fix it” rule?
Emile Heskey will fix jack shit Rintintin. His recent awful spell at Birmingham seems to have been erased from many people’s memories. Competition for Carew and Gabby is no bad thing as they are lazy enough but Heskey FFS
As you can see in my posts abouve and yesterday I didnt want this signing. I think Heskey is crap but I dont think any villa supporter should be questioning MON`s tatics at the moment!

At times, the Gabby up top alone has worked very well. As a different option a Peter Beardsley type player to play behind him I reckon would be better.

Answer me this,whats wrong with Carew i havent seen the beanpole play in Months,hes far better than Heskey surely Heskey wont start ahead of him very often,what the fuck did Villa buy him for at all?

Wigan aren’t big enough as a club to ever really compete for serious honours - small fanbase and all that - but Steve Bruce’s management job there is very impressive in fairness.
Seconded. Bruce has gone up a lot in my estimation, granted it wasn’t a big stretch to do that considering his prior record. Wigan’s a solid club, if Bruce keeps up the recruitment they’ll be alright. Another Irish player in the Prem can only be a good thing too.
