It was borderline but legal in my view. Not a side to side shoulder in the traditional sense but coming in at an angle where it was shoulder to the front part of Breen’s shoulder.
True. In the 2012 drawn final Canning started off like a train and was beating JJ up a stick but Shefflin almost single handedly dragged Kilkenny back into it. Canning got the free at the end after missing an easier one but apart from that he was very quiet in that second half. Same in 2015 final, very quiet game. People might call it going missing but I think it’s to do with his reading of the game.
Breen hasn’t really come up to the mark yet despite his promise. Well beaten by Coen on Sunday I thought. On the other hand Dan McCormack seems to be growing into it nicely.
there would be no winner in the 74th minute for the headline writers to get excited about if Galway had 6 Joe Cannings fluting around for 50 minutes. Canning is a very very very lucky boy that he has team mates like Conor Whelan who is ready willing and able to begin his shift in minute 1.
Agree. Shefflin wasn’t as good as he’s made out to be at all. He was never Kilkenny’s best player and his influence in his career defining games is way overstated
