Joe Duffy's Liveline

I felt there was a colour clash yesterday between Galway and Kilkenny, mainly down to Kilkennys black shoulders making it difficult from a distance.

@StoneCold you should give a listen back. A man from down your neck of the woods was on.

Perhaps the Mayo players can’t see each other?

I recall poor oul’ Lars Bohinen struggling very badly with the red and green, I think it was orange and green in this case. If I recall correctly Blackburn lost this game 5-0.

Later that season we had the phenomenon where it turned out the entire Manchester United team were colourblind and their grey jersey appeared invisible to the players against the backdrop of trhe crowd at The Dell.

LARS Bohinen did not see red when he was substituted at half-time during Rovers’ mauling at Coventry - literally!

The Norwegian international is almost colour blind when it comes to distinguishing red from green.

The icy conditions at Highfield Road, where Rovers were thrashed 5-0, meant a red ball was needed.

But without a full covering of snow, Bohinen found it difficult to pick out the ball against the background of frosty grass.

He explained: "I am not colour blind but I have really bad colour vision. "It’s something to laugh off really, but it’s a big problem for me when I play these kind of games.

"I had a similar problem when I played in Switzerland and a red ball was used for three or four games in the winter.

"I did not know we were going to play with a red ball until the last minute against Coventry.

"It clearly showed - I struggled. I would have played a lot better otherwise but I did not want to use it as an excuse.

“I can see the ball clearly up to 10 yards away but near my feet it gets kind of blurred.”

Bohinen stressed that the condition was made clear to doctors during his medical examinations on moving from Nottingham Forest to Rovers.

I always find Galway & Mayo jerseys very difficult to tell apart on TV

Would you ever pot the brown instead of the pink?

Mayo - along with Kerry and Meath - have tended to wear a very dark shade of green over the last 15-20 years which is difficult to tell apart from maroon without pausing for a second.

I much preferred this shade of Kerry green to the one below it.

He did before posing as a landlord a few years ago; he has a few flats in Thurles that would be in a worse state than the tenements in Dublin 100 years ago

But really, brown and reds, green and pink.

Ah this was a real hurling man.
