It depends what was agreed with the FAI and him. A lot of CEOs have a clothing allowance. Does Delaney have a written contract of employment?

On the same date, the credit card was used to withdraw the sterling equivalent of €265 in Terminal 2 of Heathrow. On October 7, the day after Ireland won a home World Cup qualifier against Georgia and two days before the team played away to Moldova, Delaney withdrew €600 in cash in three transactions.

Most of the money seems to have gone on petrol, hotels, flight and clothes, all of which might have been agreed, albeit governed poorly.

As director of Waterford Football Club in 2001, Delaney called on then FAI chief executive Bernard O’Byrne to stand down pending a review of his use of an FAI credit card. O’Byrne subsequently accepted an exit package amid allegations that he used the card for personal spending. O’Byrne, who repaid the sums in question, blamed the issue on an “administrative error”.

That’s the biggest issue for Delaney here. All the journalists and politicians were so angry that he wouldn’t engage with their grandstanding that they missed him admitting that this was a huge failure on the organisation’s behalf that he took responsibility for.

I definitely saw mention of it. The jist being clubs were being refused granted for floodlights unless they went with a specific company owned by a brother of a high profile board member ?

He did but on reflection he probably thought they meant one bank. Not unusual to use a few banks in an organisation. The FAI have moved banks a bit.

That guy is also the Honoury Treasurer, not the Treasurer. After the Genesis report they got in a CFO etc.

Interestingly the CFO of the FAI during this time recently just left the organisation.
