Iāll bet you itās more than a little. Eddie has a good reputation amongst fighters for paying what he owes.
So why is he looking for government assistance for a commercial event?
The reality is they wonāt sell 80,000 tickets. This is all a front. Otherwise theyād be talking to the Aviva or the RDS or something

Heās probably just saying he canāt do it at croker as things stand. If the govt want to sponsor it, then it can. I doubt Eddie much cares outside of wanting to host a big show.

Iād look on it more as oirish shrieking hysterically that it has to be at croke park, otherwise itās disrespectful or something, and the sums donāt add up. Eddie doesnāt want to end up paying for some bizarre notion of the Joe Duffy set. If itās purely commercial as you say, then let Eddie run it if he can, or not if he canāt. Simple.

the state owns tallaght stadium & people pay a fair rent to use it
what is happening here is worse, the state give millions to a non inclusive organisation who get to keep the stadium & overcharge if people want to rent it
