Itâs fascinating to watch
They do be boxing the diddies off each other Joe .
Perfect outcome for the Twitter lads here. Can give out about not being able to go to something they hadnât a notion of going to in the first place
Butty Sugrue the promoter lost his bollox on that fight. Think the attendance was 11k.
I think the Pikey conference which was arranged to coincide with the fight forced the decision to cancel it and not bad ticket sales. Ordinary boxing fans were being warned not to go.
My old man was at it - lot of people got in without tickets
Katie Taylor - The Hyde.
Fleetingly I mis-read the thread title with the shocking feeling that she was defending her world title in the Hyde. The blood pressure has now dropped.
Mine too. He was one of the unfortunates who paid and was still giving out 30 years later
Kevin needs to take his dumb fucking well boxed head out of his arse
James too
College football brings a massive entourage from abroad with it.
Also arenât the GAA limited by how many non GAA events they can hold in the year? Why would they offer it at a reduced rate when Iâm sure theyâll easily sell those dates at full value.
âOireland for de Oirish, refugees out, house da HOMELISS and da guverrment should subsidise Eddie Hearn with public money.â
400k at Croke Park v 250k at Wembley for stadium rental is only a couple of euro a ticket difference.
If anybody was to make a concession (which I donât see why they would) it should be whatever private security company is to be used.
Itâs a pity itâs not on in croke park in fairness. It could have been a huge, unique event for womenâs sport, thousands of young girls could have gone to it with their dadâs/mams. Hardly totally the gaaâs fault or anything like it but they could have all made it work and sold it out.
Listen to what Peter McKenna says and youâll see itâs not being ruled out for September.
Thatâs 250,000ÂŁ which is closer again.
The long and the short of it is Hearn is worried it wonât make a profit.
Croke Park is fairly dated at this stage compared with more modern stadia. Hardly much benefit in showing it off to the world
Womenâs professional boxing is a lesser draw than womenâs amateur boxing in this country. Part of the whole thing with Katie Taylor in 2012 was she was representing Ireland at the Olympics. In London. Thatâs over a decade ago now. Kellie Harrington has stolen her thunder to a large extent as well.
Taylorâs professional career has been of only niche interest among the Irish sporting public, few people have seen any of her fights and Amanda Serrano is not a known name in Ireland. Men will not go to watch a womenâs professional boxing event in numbers in Ireland. When Taylor appeared at the national amateur finals in 2013 she got an extremely lukewarm reception, almost as if the men in the audience resented her. Relying on women and girls to pay big bucks to attend a professional boxing event in the heart of the north inner city when there has been no professional boxing event in Dublin for years because of the gangland feud is not a reliable sell.
Irish people will turn up to watch Taylor in numbers if itâs in Madison Square Garden or Boston or Sydney or an Olympics in London as it becomes a gathering event for Irish emigrants. Not so much in Dublin. Theyâd actually be better off staging it in Wembley as a bigger Irish crowd would turn up there.
