i thought that keane and quinn hated each other post saipan ?
Quinn must be offering Keane a serious wage packet to even tempt to take the job.
I just hope Sunderland have the best training facilities around and of course enough balls for training
They’re winning 2-0 against West Brom. Maybe Quinny will ditch the Keane idea now he’s got the hang of this management lark.

no doubt the tabloids will be full of shite about how sunderland only won because keane spoke to them for 10mins yesterday and was (presumably) sitting in the stand …[/quote]
from www.bbc.co.uk:
“Keane met the Sunderland players during training on Sunday and his words seem to have had an immediate effect.”
Keane may not have changed a whole lot about the way they played today but surely his presence did have an immediate effect (or affect I forget)? Those fooks were on a sinking ship and now they’re playing for a guy they would’ve all respected and feared, and he has alledgedly anything between 10 and 30 million to fork out for new players, albeit in 3 days!
It might make easy headlines for the lazy editors but I agree with them on this one. Reality will kick when the initial excitment of getting Keane wears off and they realise how shite they are again.
Read somewhere over the weekend about Sunderland losing star players like Kilbane and Breen. That says alot for whats left…
Any of you see the full Keane press conference yesterday? I read somewhere that when asked about the best managers he worked under whose methods and ideas he?d use he said Ferguson, Clough and???..Strachan. Is the latter true?
Even if it is, it’s hardly much of a commendation is it? Who else could he pick - Jack Charlton? Brian Kerr? Mick McCarthy?? whoever was in charge at Cobh Ramblers!
It’d only be impressive if he said “the best managers I’ve worked under, in reverse order of greatness, were …”
I think it is a string to Strachan’s bow if Keane, who has notoriously high standards, commended him on his management capabilities. I’m sure he knows enough about football to spot a good manager despite having only played under those 3 club managers and a number of charlatans for his national team.
