I don’t necessarily think Scales was at fault for the winner. He was facing up the chap who played the pass & McGregor inexplicably stopped running back with the fella who made the run off them & scored. Phillips was too slow to come across too. But Scales & Phillips were both very poor & Scales’ form has flatlined or fallen away a fair bit lately. I’d be okay with CCV plus AN Other at this stage. Taylor still being first choice left back years later & not even having anybody to challenge him is down to embarrassing squad building. Issues elsewhere too & they’re also a physically small & weak team. They’ve got roughed up on numerous occasions this season now.

I think Scales just avoided making a decision for both goals but he certainly wasn’t solely at fault. McGregor inexplicably stopped tracking the run.
But throughout the game there was no understanding between Scales and Phillips. They were tentative and misaligned and left lots of gaps. And Taylor was repeatedly caught out of position on his side.
I’m hopeful we can get Nawrocki back into the team. Maybe today wasn’t the game to reintroduce him ahead of Phillips but I’m hoping he’s a level above Scales who does tend to get bullied a bit.
Lots of problems all over the pitch though. But as you say we’ve needed to sort left back and don’t even have a capable sub never mind a much needed upgrade on Taylor.
I’ve said it before on other match threads but there is clearly something massively wrong behind the scenes at Celtic. The January window is crucial but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if OReilly was sold and an exciting project from the Azerbaijan second division was signed to replace him…

Do you think Celtic have got going under Rodgers ? I think it’s totally flat . Only for rangers being such a shit show it’s gone unnoticed. But now Rangers are getting their act together some bit Celtics malaise is becoming more evident .
Apparently Rangers have been shit under yer new chap too but haven’t dropped too many points at all. I guess being thrown penalties all over the place helps & the competition is poor too. Celtic have really opened the door to them though and the derby at Christmas/New Year will tell a lot.
It’s going over old ground but Celtic fans wanted 3 or 4 improvements to last season’s starting team to build from a position of strength. Keeper, left back, midfield & someone to play upfront or in a wide attacking role. Instead last year’s starting team has been weakened because Starfelt is better than Scales, Jota is waaay better than Yang/Forrest/Johnston & Mooy is better than the midfielders he’s flexing in beside McGregor & O’Riley. Hart is very much done, McGregor is looking like 60 games a season for 10 years has caught up with him & it’s a bit of a shitshow.
