Not sure Kielty is a good fit for the weekly misery slot.
I am not sure where Kielty lives (I would imagine he is UK based with his missus) so I see the Late Late undergoing a big change - it may not be live other than The Toy Show.
I think I first saw Kielty present a āyoung personā Saturday morning TV show on UTV in the early 1990s. He was annoying enough but heās all the tools to be a very good LLS presenter. Will he have a say in the guests
It would probably benefit from not being live
The absolute goddess that is Cat Deeley coming to live in Dublin would be the most exciting thing to have happened in Dublin since the Pillar was blown up.
Would this not be a big step down for PK?
Gerry Ryan says go fuck yourself.
From what?
Heās not got much on now has he. Does he have a radio show in UK ?
Heās at nothing.
Or seeing Pillar Caffrey explode with rage during āHill 16 Gateā
The story of him ringing Cat Deeley from the pub in Dundrum Co. Down wishing her Happy Birthday, then flying half way round the world the next morning to be with her for said Birthday is very charming. .
Many a Tipp man hitched from Thurles to Clonmel to ride his sister. Romance isnāt dead.
The great strength of Gay Byrneās Late Late Show was that guests would stick around, and by the last half hour of the programme youād have four of them lined up in a row and conversation could go in any direction.
What has hobbled the chat show format in general, and especially a live chat show format, is the existence of the internet. People are petrified to say anything of interest because they fear becoming a meme or accidentally saying something off the cuff that will get them in trouble.
Back in the day the worst that could happen was the papers might talk about something somebody had said but if youād missed the programme you werenāt going to hear what they said unless youād taped it.
Is there confirmation of this available anywhere? I see heās a lifelong Manyoo supporterā¦
Make what you will of that nowā¦ā¦
Is Kieltyās sister a bit of a slag? Is that what youāre saying?
Just have a rotating host so everyone in the Rte canteen gets a go at it
At Cat?
Then thereāll be no guests to interview?
Will Kielty appeal to the typical 70 year old viewers though? My auld lad thinks heāll be giving too many smart replies and is disappointed that Claire Byrne pulled out of the race.
To use football paralance, Kielty has spent the majority of his career outside of the domestic league and the casual viewer wouldnāt know much about him. An Owen Hargreaves playing for England type scenario.
