Genuine question but would you not be afraid of some fucker hopping the wall and making off with it? He can pick it up and away he goes? Now I understand it has to be specially programed towards the contours of your own lawn but opportunistic robbers aren’t necessarily to know this at the time, and I’d say they’ll hardly come back to you with it when they learn that fact.
The docking unit is the money maker. The drone is worth fuck all.
Down his neck of the woods, they’d be more likely to rob one of his simmentals.
This is Galway, not Limerick.
I’d be 50/50 tempted to get one myself but I presume you’ve to have perfectly connected front and back lawns? I don’t I’ve a yard separately front to back. It’s not going to go across the yard when it’s done going round and round the back for a week.
I’ve a little section of lawn out to one side of the house, so I’ve a smaller one for that (same as the one @Ambrose_McNulty is considering).
So you need a few? I’ve three lawns that aren’t connected.
Not a problem, they cut a small channel in your driveway and lay a guide wire that it follows. I’ve 4000sq mtrs of lawn that’s in 3 sections. The only danger is herself backing out over it some morning
Seems to be the way to go so. How much would you want to be spending on a decent one?
All depends on the size of your lawns. I’ve the biggest Stihl one, it was 3k plus 1k installation. Have it 18 months now and the only issue I have is that I didn’t get one years ago
Not everyone will. Talk to a supplier and they’ll advise you.
Apparently they’re rarely robbed, pin protected and also build in GPS to find them again.
@ironmoth @the_mixer_walsh
I have been thinking same as @Smark… just finished lawns around the house (finally)and the notion of a robot struck me. I didn’t think of it at the time so a bit if retrofitting required. How big is the docking bay and as they are charging constantly, I’m assuming the battery will have to be changed at some point, have either of you had one changed and what did it cost?
Are they not dangerous for kids and get stuck in flower beds and the like?
unless you suprise them by changing the layout of the garden every morning they’ll be fine. As for kids, I’m sure once lifted they stop working
What about the weather?
It just cuts the lawn AFAIK, no weather control options
My sisters one ate her childs shoes after he left them outside
There’s very good value in getting a lad in to cut your lawn and selling your lawn mower. Droughts are going to become a big thing in Ireland so fuck all point in having an expensive lawn mower lying in the shed.
Really good value I’ve found.
How did you find this?
