Gave up the oul soccer for the hurling.
Fookin money grabber!!
Quigley was centre half for Wexford youths that day.

Robbo was one year older than us. They played for a while on the same club team and were good pals in school tho.

There seems to be plenty goalkeepers around here with yourself, pukey, bandage and myself.[/quote]
Locke also fancied himself as a keeper in his younger daysâŚ
Yeah Joe Watson, a bit younger than us though. He played for Waterford United for a while. Extremely talented player.
I remember having full blown conversation with him in a nite club one night in waterford and was dumbfounded by my own lip reading ability.

Must have freaked out others near you though.
Staring and staring at a ladâs lips like you were going to stick the head in.
The Eircom League Cup finalists drew 1-1 with Shamrock Rovers in Ferrycarrig Park tonight. Their goal came from the spot and itâs another positive result on the back of the draw against St Patâs last week. Tim McGrathâs playing for the Youths this season - he was one of two Wexicans who was at Celtic for a couple of seasons in the mid 1990s as a kid without making it. Mick Wallaceâs take on last weekâs game:
Scoreless draw was very heartening

IâM NOT sure if the local football scene is back or did it just not go away. It must be the economic climate that has me confused, or maybe just bewilderment at the ineptitude of our government.
Either way, the Wexford Youths had three games over the weekend, with Fridayâs senior game at home to St. Patâs the star billing.
On Saturday, the Under-18 interleague youths played the Kildare Senior side, drawing 1-1, and on Sunday we played a Limerick University selection and won 2-1.
Drawing 0-0 with St. Patâs was very heartening, when you consider that they beat us 5-1 at the same time last season. It was an excellent game of football and despite the quality of our professional opponents, the Youths looked very solid and composed.
We worked hard behind the ball, proved lively on the break, and our fitness looks more advanced than this time last year.
We had two debutants on show - a youthful Tim McGrath made his first appearance in black and did very well. Packie Holden from Kilkenny managed to get a Wexford passport for the day and made a guest appearance in goal. And he did look like a fellow who played there before.
On Saturday, the Under-18s gave a very good account of themselves, drawing 1-1 with the Kildare Senior side. Our only goal was a piece of beauty - a glorious cross from Muzzi Mullen was picked up by Ross Celticâs Stephen OâLeary who finished in style.
The Inter-League Youths play Limerick on Saturday week, in Ferrycarrig at 2.30 p.m., in the All-Ireland quarter-final. In Sundayâs 2-1 win over the Limerick University side, our Under-17 player, Jimmy Keohane, was the star of the show, and should make his debut for the Seniors this Wednesday at home to Dundalk (8:00 kick-off), who have gone full time this season.
On Saturday, the Youths will take on another Premier Division side when they entertain Shamrock Rovers at Ferrycarrig, with a 6:00 p.m. kick-off.
UPCOMING FIXTURES AT FERRYCARRIG
Wednesday, February 18, 8 p.m. - Wexford Youths v. Dundalk.
Saturday, February 21, 6 p.m. - Wexford Youths v. Shamrock Rovers.
Saturday, February 28, 2.30 p.m. - Wexford Inter-League Youths v. Limerick League Youths.
galway and ucd drew 1-1 today
Cheaters never prosper.
I was at the Athlone-Bohs game yesterday and there was an oul lad behind me talking into his phone and he was telling the person at the other end of the phone that he was at Athlone-Bohs at the moment, and heâd previously been at the first half of Galway-UCD. I thought I was a sad bastard but thatâs taking things to a new level.
You should never consider going to see your team as being sad
True enough Kev - beats me that so many people could think they have better things to be doing in life than going 150 miles for a pre-season friendly. There is no better time to be going to the football than 3 o clock on a Saturday, itâs the business.
