Leaving Cert Results

The fluent German speakers not getting their H1 was a real flaw in Norma’s plan.

In fairness who wouldn’t want to spend 3/4 years of the best years of their lives in Carlow.

How do you figure “her grades sound about right”. Do you know better than her teachers?

The backwards fada is a hallmark of affluence.

Plenty of worse places you could be

Not sure about that.

Presumably there’s a good reason they have plenty of spare capacity on certain courses.

No mate, but they have her six H1. The algorithm gave her 4 H1 and 2H2 or thereabouts (I can’t be bothered scrolling up).
It’s not at all unreasonable to think that she may have slipped, erred or been unlucky on the day and done worse than predicted, given the only way was down.
She will get. In to medicine somewhere, maybe just not trinners.
The inescapable fact is that this awarding of grades is deeply flawed, and could have been avoided.
In any case,. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Six H1s and a H2 downgraded to three H1s and four H2s I think. It all needs to be kept in perspective but ‘about right’ isn’t acceptable.

How did the “algorithm” decide that this lady was more likely to underperform on the day than a kid from a traditionally underperforming school?

Well that’s what we are waiting to find out.
I’m pretty much the only person here who called it out as unfair. The rest of ye were either gloating or staying silent, so maybe you should target your ire elsewhere?

Carlow IT is a magnificent institution. Disappointed in your snobbery here.

She was predicted 7 a grades, and got 7 a grades

You are the only person who saw through this?

Incorrect.

Surely in medicine more weight should be put to the HPAT this year than the Leaving Cert “results”

I’m the only one I can recall posting that it was unfair right at that time

She will get into medicine, just not into trinity.

Really?
