Really what?

You’re roughly about right there, but factually entirely incorrect.

That’s good enough.

I feel aggrieved and ignored

Maybe if the facts were unavailable, but that is not the case. You may aswell have stated she was predicted seven As or Bs.

Apologies mate.
I felt right out on a lonely limb in hard rain at the start. My ebuttox were exposed.

What are you blathering on about now?

Don’t worry - I got your e-back.

Thanks mate.

My daughter checked her teachers results versus the department grades on Monday. She was marked down in 6 and up in 1. The highest reduction was 4 and the one she was marked up in was 3. Overall the grades as given by the teachers matched the department as the adjusted marks didn’t make a material difference. It’s hard to know what the ‘algorithm’ was actually at to be honest.

You said she was predicted seven A grades and that is what she got so shouldn’t bother complaining. However there isn’t even an A grade.

The issue itself doesn’t bother me too much and wouldn’t cause me to be blathering; people with unjustified conviction in their opinion do.

Did it ever occur to you in your little bubble that her parents may be able to send the child a mile down the road to Trinity but may not be able to send the child to Cork/Galway/Poland

Did it ever occur to you in your little bubble that trinity isn’t the only university in Dublin?
Probably not.

I’ll put her up in my spare room

It did. The points for medicine in the other institutions in Dublin are as high or higher than Trinity

At UCD, medicine is up from 735 to 737 points; at Trinity, it’s up from 730 to 735; at NUI Galwayy, points are up from 726 to 728; and at the Royal College of Surgeons points are up from 729 to 733. UCC’s medicine degree is up from 729 to 731

She missed trinity by two, so can go to RCSI.
She said it was her dream to study medicine. She can now do this on her own doorstep.
TBH, I think the algorithm is unfair. I’ve said that from the start.
It is an unarguable fact, however, that having the opportunity, no matter how it was arrived at, to go to the institute, gave her a significant advantage over other kids in direct competition.
She was happy to take that advantage.

They’ll be spending their first year of it looking into a computer screen on Zoom

What I’m getting here is that it’s okay to look down on Carlow but not Farview.

Which is cool because I look down on both of them

Think it’s relatively well known.

Not all courses fill up around the country. In some cases, believe it or not, courses end up not running because they don’t get sufficient numbers.

You’d hope career guidance counsellors would make students know about this option down the line, but I’d doing it.
