No argument there, and not the end of the world if she can go to RCSI anyway. (Should have kept those numbers to myself.)
I donāt think there is a whole lot to defend the āalgorithmā.

I donāt think there is a whole lot to defend the āalgorithmā.
In fairness, Ćine might be opposed to attending RCSI because they have McDonkey on staff
Are there additional fees for RCSI vs Trinity/UCD?
Nah, I agree with you.
RCSI are currently running their classes in Croke Park due to a lack of space in RCSI. Croker is a handy 10 minute walk from Fairview for Aine. It also saves Aineās family the price of the bus fare. This will be a huge relief to them after all the scrimping and saving needed to send her to The Institute.
Itās a bit like Winning Streak. Everyoneās a winner.
A Senior and Junior for a judicial review wonāt have come cheap.
Huzzah, a resolution. If Ćine felt further disenfranchised she could log on here.
In a matter of months and with careful bookmarking of posts she may know more about medicine than some of the āmouthsā masquerading as experts on national airwaves.
TFK, educating the nation on a daily basis.
He did, in UCD. I know heāll bail out of that as he has already said he didnāt want to do it.
He has Dyspraxia so itās not straightforward, trade not an option.
Ultimately you can bring a horse to water and all that.
Every generation wants to give their children the opportunities that they never had, lads laughing and sneering at the likes of the Institute, try getting your child into 6th year of a non fee paying school.
Heāll be ok, because Iāll make sure heāll be ok.
The Institute is the best place of education I ever attended. I absolutely loved it there.
It is brilliant. The teachers are brilliant. The atmosphere is brilliant. The freedom from the state education of the time was brilliant. It was the most positive and happy and constructive place, Iād love my kids to go there.
It is a huge advantage though.
It suits some but not all. I have seen lads go there and not cope with the freedom. Some lads need structure of traditional school.
Is there minimal extra-curricular activities too? No sport etc
Next to nothing. School supports such as pastoral care would be thin on the ground aswell. Itās a great place for the right person i.e. a self motivated academic type.
If you want a holistic approach to education for your child, send them to a traditional school.
Have any of these kids considered repeating the leaving? Or doing it in November? Tbf a year wont make a difference as there will be no craic or chances to make a fool of yourself to get life lessons.
Im not so sure I agree. There was far more pastoral care there than at any other school Iād ever been to, there was a great atmosphere, and the teachers were all absolutely positive, encouraging and inspiring.
Its actually the only school I would have any great attachment or loyalty to.
There were plenty of clubs around the place for sport.
What are the fees in the Institute these days? And I presume we are talking about the Institute of Education on Leeson St here?
I went there for an Easter revision course for Physics and English in my leaving cert year. It was unreal. I learned more about Physics in that week than I learned in two years in my local school. Pat Doyle was the teacher, still remember his name.
It was also an incredible experience for a young Wexford roaster to be exposed to Dublin 4 / SoCoDu cubs for the first time.
The trip to the high court would dwarf any variance ?
I had him. A gent.
Dorrie Dowling the English teacher there was the best, kindest and most inspirational teacher, and possibly person I have ever met.
The teachers were absolutely brilliant. All happy out too.
As regards socodu exposure, as a NOGRA man, I was gobsmacked at the casual wealth
It must be a dream place to be a teacher
Weāre finding out a lot about lads here
Chicken and egg. I think you had to be great to get in there. I remember Dorrie telling me wan day that the owner never ever quibbled about wages, he just paid whatever she asked.
She was stellar though, the worst teacher there was the best Iād ever had anywhere else.
