The eldest here got about ten more than that.

Overjoyed 'cos he packed in the work in the last month after freewheeling to then.

A very good day in the Croppy household.

Thereā€™ll be a feed of dead pig and bread ready fir him. Mrs Croppy is off to some Mothers and Others blitz/gin-drinking excuse for the day so Iā€™ll concentrate on preventing the two little mem quiet so he can recover.

His choice of takeaway and a few beers will ease the hangover.

All ahead of him now.

It will be 500 points to get into GMIT the way itā€™s going.

Any person with a building trade is naming their price.

A young lad (with good posture) could go away and learn to be a block layer now and 15 years down the road they would have their house paid for with a good nest egg saved. Go away then and sort out a handy job in the public sector/re skill and essentially retire at 40. Do a few tommers building front walls or garages for extra scratch then at their own pace.

Iā€™m not sure how true it is but I was told that there is only a single digit amount of wet trade apprenticeā€™s in the country.

Iā€™d say weā€™ll have a real dearth of lorry drivers in a few years. Youā€™d never really hear of lads in their 20ā€™s driving lorries these days.

And thats a real single mans game, especially long haul

From what I understand there is horrible working conditions and pay. A real race to the bottom in terms of pricing. That and the licensing is a long and expensive undertaking

We need our own Jimmy Hoffa,

Without the truck drivers we have nothing :man_shrugging:

Canada and the States are where lads in that game go to make real money

I just did a search there now and it says the points for Engineering is about 560 where medicine is 460.

I know Iā€™m long in the tooth but when I did the leaving youā€™d need six As to be a doctor.

Could somebody explain why things have changed please?

CAO isnā€™t out yet but anyone hoping for Medicine would need very close to 600 points and a solid HPAT. Engineering wouldnā€™t be 560 in most Universities either. Iā€™d say itā€™s just misinformation of the internet.
