Leinster Hurling Championship 2025 No Wexford, No Party

The relegation battle between Antrim, Dublin, Wexford and Galway will be something else.

Looking through the Offaly panel here and if my maths are right, 25 of the 36 man panel from just 4 Clubs

Durrow - 8
Shinrone - 7
Kilcormac Killoughy - 6
Belmont - 5

9 clubs in total represented. I might be guilty at times myself of underestimating just how small their pick is.

Presume Durrow are Ballinamere? How does that work?

Durrow football, Ballinamere hurling.

Various other examples of it like Doon & Oola, it will become more common with rural depopulation.

I fancy the three home teams in Leinster this weekend. Hard to gauge where any truly are at yet but Wexford are a step ahead of Antrim, Dublin will be primed for this game and Kilkenny will out to avenge that league defeat

Shocks will come in Leinster but not sure it’ll be this weekend.

A rare slip by Ed when he mistakenly stated that Doc had made his Leinster championship debut in Thurles against Dublin (2002). I haven’t gotten as far as their predicted championship exit for Wexford yet but I’d assume it’s a quarter-final against Clare in Thurles.

Wouldnt Wexford have a good shot of winning Leinster if they get their act together?

Can’t afford any injuries. They have little quality outside the 1st 15.

Your lads would fancy their chances in Wexford Park after their league I’d imagine.

I actually dont believe that league was all that bad for Wexford

A decent team and bench there. Forwards look exciting on paper.

Was going to make same point as @Fat_Pox. There’s also a few lads in the first 15 that haven’t delivered consistently over multiple campaigns & I’m not sure how reliable they’ll be in championship hurling, even if they came into form towards the end of the league.

Durrow and Ballinamere are beside each other. Both are in Tullamore parish. They are separate clubs. Durrow have a football club and Ballinamere hurling. I think the set up is that Durrow lads are playing with Ballinamere under some sort of permission system. I think in Offaly if you’re a football club you nominate a hurling club that you permit your players to play with or some such. I don’t know all eight but all the high profile Ballinamere county players are from Durrow.

Andrew Dunphy started as a chap about 5 years ago under Gilroy from what I recalll but can’t recall him featuring much since

Proof will be in the pudding.

Hes mid 20s I think. Possibly was on the bench other years.

Captained Dublin to that u20 final during Covid. Tidy hurler

I think Doc predicted a Leinster final appearance and then exit at the quarter final stage. Im not sure Ed answered the question

I don’t think he started with Gilroy, would be too young. He played in that covid Leinster final where Dublin lost lads to covid in the run up to the game.

Fairly sure he dropped himself off the panel last year with MD. Was excellent on a piss poor Brigids outfit last year.

Did he get a bad injury?
