Leinster Schools Rugby- Official Thread

Tarf put manners on the Gick in the AIL last saturday

See match report from the superbly erudite Peter Walsh on the Tarf website

Thanks pal.

Totally outclassed on the day in every dept. They hammered our hammers and clinically exposed our weak areas. Terenure had a smashing no12 who made progress everytime on the ball.

A lovely journey for the school. Great morale in the place amongst staff and students over the past week. A few curmudgeonly teachers who would show only apathy towards sport even travelled today.

Hopefully we might be able to exact some sort of revenge on the hurling field later in the year if our paths cross again.

Terenure make a genuine attempt to play lots of sports. Unlike a lot of their fee paying counterparts.

My young lad is at terenure but prefers the hurling. He seems to think he played ye in a schools senior final last year? He was only junior cert snd they got whalloped but there were some very tasty hurlers if ye are who whacked them.

They really do. Badmiton, swimming, basketball. Really encourage participation in any sport or activity which is great. Wexford headmaster appears intent to further that on more and reduce or dillute the oldboy rugby bullshit a bit further

Yeah, that was us alright. Some good people over there doing work in hurling like Collins and Barry. Had a good Wexford lad too who is now in Cork.

Wallace is a great fella. The school will be a better place for having a broader spectrum of sports.

What are smart gum shields?

I think they send an alert/mesage if possible concussion

They’re the ones used to fake a blood injury; the capsule is in the shield

The money spent on these rugby ‘programmes’ is scandalous while the same schools receive funds from the State.

One of the great scandals of this state.

The GAA has received huge state funding?

Into the private GAA playing schools?

The gaa is not a private school. Millions spent on high profile southern hemisphere coaches, warm weather training holidays etc trying to win a juvenile rugby competition. All the while the state subsidizes these schools. Its a scandal but will never be tackled.

All that money translates into global world cup success for the Irish Rugby team doesn’t it…

It’s either wrong in principle or it isn’t.
It’s sport for youngsters which is worth any amount of investment imo.

They’re building titans of industry in there.
