Only the Sunday game was on tv. Quarter finals onwards on Premier.
A bad week for the Spiritans/Holy Ghosts so far. The Jesuits really have the upper hand now.
The Vincentians did well too.
It has been a brilliant start to the cup . The consensus is that without Michaelās it would be vintage competition
Indeed but come mid March, itās likely to be the Holy Ghost representatives from Aylesbury Road on the top of the pile.
It is becoming like GGA - monied organizations dominating . The likes of Kerry footballers , Kilkenny hurlers & Blackrock College unable to compete
67-0 ouch!
I read that the school rugby budget in Mickās this year is ā¬1.3m, of which ā¬400k goes to the SCT. It would be too rich for Pat McDonagh anyway.
Id take being battered by that Michaelās team than losing to fucking gerards
Thatās BS.
Theyāve probably invested that much in pitches and and the gym in the last 10 years, which is not an insignificant amount of money at all (and a lot more than others), but not p.a. Their school fee income per year wouldnāt be ā¬3.5m and they have to pay lots of teachers out of that.
Most of their coaches are teachers. They have a great system really. Other schools need to step up.
Most of their coaches are teachers.
I was under the impression that the opposite was true.
Nope.
They just have a really good system. They certainly hire ex pupils and rugby heads as well to the teaching staff, but they are mostly teachers.
Kilkenny College beat Wesley College .
There was a Pim lad playing for Kilkenny. I wonder is he related to former Old Wesley flanker Chris Pim ?? I
Iāve a feeling heās related to the tattersalls ceo Alastair pimm.
I was told the opposite. I will enquire again.
The head coach is Emmet MacMahon who teaches in the school. Heās a past pupil, left 10 years ago.
Thatās one. I was told previously that very few teachers involved in rugby. Those involved have a rugby background. They only want people involved who know what they are doing. I know a lad who is close to director of rugby there. I will ask him.
Sean is teaching in Terenure College now.
67-0 ouch!

Temple Carrig literally couldnāt keep it pucked out to the Leinster academy
Kelvin Leahy is a teacher. He wanted to get a job in my old school and the powers that he didnāt want him in so he went there.
They do hire rugby focused teachers including past pupils. Brian OāMeara was the same. It isnāt significantly different to what other schools do though. They spend a lot of money, but to attribute it all to rugby would be wrong.
