Leinster Senior Schools Cup Rugby - Official Thread

Heroic goal line stand secures a deserved victory for Clongowes.

Oh no!

10 minutes into injury time and Clongowes’ ordeal is finally over. St. Mikey’s threw everything into that. That’s one of the best games of schools rugby I’ve ever seen.

Moments that every young man on that wonderfully natural-looking artificial pitch will remember for the rest of their lives. In 30 years time they’ll be able to give each other “that look”, to quote one G. Thornley.

Poor Michaels will always be just the Junior School

From the halls of Christian College, what’s the lowdown on us?
Expect to lose to Belvo by 15- 20. The best player is out injured but the team is still quite young I think. Pity Dan Casey went to Sunderland, he’d be a superstar at this level

They never convinced as pre-tournament favourites.

The Holy Ghost eggs all in one basket now - but what a basket it is.

Clongowes are always the silent operators - maybe apart from 2011 when their side was known to be quality - got to give them credit.

Blackrock have been knocked out by a last minute try from Roscrea. With the other favourites Michaels also out the competition is wide open.

:eek::eek::eek:

Opening up nicely for a showdown between Clongowes and Belvo.

Roscrea Tipperary?

The school is inside the Leinster border but adjacent to the Tipperary town I believe.

Looks like it. Newbridge beat Andrews the other day but you’d imagine Clongowes are now favourites.

'Hon Roscrea

back in the day they just used to be huge boghoppers, even the scrum half wold be over 6 foot. times they are a changing

Big fellas alright. Some trip down to play a game too before there was motorway.

Video of the try here. Some drama. The Roscrea lads nearly had the shirts ripped off them.

Really shows up @downyourthroats and @caoimhaoin - look at the crowds… the thing is even covered by an international tv broadcasting company and the GAA-UNI lads banging on about two men and a dog- with the dog shitting all over the place.

And I detest rugby football.

With half their team being funded by the Connacht Branch to go there.
