Itā€™s a good job Sean MacDiarmada wasnā€™t alive to witness that shite. The cunts should be shot forthwith.

Weā€™re going nowhere at the minute only backwards if thatā€™s possible,Iā€™d expect some withdrawals from the squad after the league,NY will be calling

Even the ladies would score more

A physically stronger Carlow had little difficulty overcoming Leitrim in a poor game at windswept Pairc Sean MhicDiarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon today.

An early exchange of points was followed by four Paul Broderick pointed frees without reply to leave Carlow comfortably ahead after 20 minutes and although Leitrim came more into the game Carlow led 0-6 to 0-4 at the break.

Playing with the aid of a strong wind, Carlow extended their lead early in the second half with four more unanswered points as Leitrim struggled to make headway against a massed Carlow defence but in the 55th minute a good Leitrim move resulted in a Ronan Kennedy goal to give Leitrim some hope.

However, with Brendan Murphy and Sean Gannon pulling the strings at midfield, Carlow were never in trouble and they added a further two points without reply as the Leitrim challenge faded.

Scorers Āā€” Carlow: P Broderick (0-4f),D Foley (0-3f)C Blake (0-2),D Hayden,G Kelly,D St.Ledger 1pt each; Leitrim: R Kennedy (1-0),E Mulligan (0-3 1f),P Maguire (0-1).

Best midfield in the country were bested well by the sounds of things

By NY calling do you mean Neil Young cosā€™ by the cut of some of them thatā€™s all their fit for. Unlike other counties that garner space here, the problem isnā€™t with either the players or the Management.
Itā€™s fairly simple, the numbers just arenā€™t there. Not enough senior clubs with any depth or quality of players, no visible rewards bar a ā€œpossibleā€ chance of escape from D4 and 2 early, if narrow, reversals took the steam out of that.

The Beergate storm of a few years ago had a bad affect on morale that hasnā€™t been overcome, simple as that. Players do what they deem their best but itā€™s not enough in the modern age. Theyā€™re all honest enough lads who realise thereā€™s more to life than slogging around doing bench-presses and assorted bollocksology.

This has been a painful enough post, being from Leitrim and all that, but hopefully the correct usage of the highlighted words will have positive implications on the forum going forward.

Vent over. Happy Easter to all you fuckers with Championship aspirations.

Top marks for spelling and a top, top post all round.

If you think about it, footballers 2, 3 and 4 ability wise in the county arenā€™t playing. Conor Beirne, Wayne McKeon and Tomas Beirne. Why? A lot of reasons but a primary one is the massive, massive commitment required to be an intercounty player today to be even able to keep with a team physically for 70 minutes.

Rumours were that Shane Quinn was dropped from the panel for going on the beer at the medals award ceremony for Mohill in Rynn a couple of months back. In the middle of the league?!! Holy fuck is all I have to say.

Never mind the black card or the mark, the commitment required now for inter county football is one of the biggest issues facing the game.

100% agree @farmerinthecity. Not a scintilla of your post is in doubt (Moran/Wrynn are argueable) but youā€™re right.
The county canā€™t afford to pay the lads for times off and needs must. Iā€™d be horrified if it came to pay for play though.
Iā€™m somewhat entrenched in my views but we played the game for a pastime and nothing more. There were more clubs back the day but at various age levels.
Iā€™ve been around a few clubs ā€œmainlyā€ legitimate - Fenagh, Cloone, Kiltubrid, Mohill, Sheemore Gaels and Gorvagh (a once off project). Great days, great enemies/friends in the voyage of life.
